Birth Story:
I had been waiting on the doctor to call me and give me a date for my c-section for a few weeks. My boys were breech and transverse and they weren't moving out of those positions, so there was no way for a vaginal delivery. I went in for a check up with OB on September 13th and she asked me if I knew that I was scheduled for my c-section at 3:30pm on Thursday of that week...I didnt know but told her that was good. I was ready to have my boys! She then told me that there may be an opening the next morning instead, at 7:30am, and she said she would rather me go in then so that I didnt have to suffer through the whole day on Thursday without eating. She did check my cervix and I was still only 2cm dilated but my water bag was bulging, so I probably would have went into labor very soon she said.
So wow, all of a sudden I'm told my boys are being delivered the next day! Not what I was expecting when I went in for my appointment that day. So after my appointment I called the family to let them know what was going on, everyone wanted to be at the hospital when they were born. I went home and checked my hospital bag for about the 10th time and tried to relax for the rest of the day.
Because my section was at 7:30am I had to be at the hospital by 5:30am to start prep for the surgery. Needless to say I did not sleep at all! We get to the hospital and they check my in, start my IV and hook me up to the monitors to watch the babies HB's. My contractions starting coming every 3 minutes or so, and I'm still convinced that I would have probably went into labor that day anyway...lol Getting the IV kinda sucked, it hurt when she put the needle in . They had to do some blood work also and when the lady put the needle in she missed my vein and hit a nerve, which made that arm go dead..lol
So finally the time comes to be taken into the room for the surgery. At this point I'm shaking really bad from adrenaline and using nervous. Getting the spinal was really too bad, I think the IV was worse. The only bad part was when they were doing it and I could feel the pain in my hips (which is think was normal bc they asked me what side I could feel it on and when I said both they said that was good).
The spinal kicked in pretty fast, starting at my toes and working its way up feeling like when your legs fall asleep. Tingling and warm...it was kinda odd..lol After a few minutes the laid me back down and moved my legs onto the table. By this point it felt like my legs were floating but they were on the table. A few minutes later they started the proceedure. I got very sick and was throwing up quite a bit but they gave me some medication through my IV to make me feel better and it kicked in pretty fast.
It was really wierd being able to feel them moving my stomach and stuff in it and there was absolutely no pain. I could feel when each baby came out because the change in the weight of my stomach was drastic. It was crazy when the 2nd baby came out, it was like my stomach deflated and there was instant relief from the weight and pressure of having 2 babies in there. The babies both cried right when they were taken out, very loud and clear which made me so happy. After a few minutes they took the boys and hubby out of the room to clean them up and finished my c-section. I was taken into the recovery room about 10 minutes later and got to hold and try breast feeding them within an hour of them being born.
I was so happy when the boys both latched on right away! It made me feel very encouraged that I wouldnt have an issue BF both of them. I was taken up to my room about an hour later and all the family came up to see us.
I've come to the conclusion that I would not want to have a vaginal delivery. Even though I am still recovering from the surgery, I didnt have to deal with hours of labor and I imagine heavier bleeding. I never had any real contractions before they were born and my postpartum bleeding has pretty much stopped except for after I nurse (which is due to the uterus contracting and caused by BF'ing). The experience overall has been pretty positive and my boys came out so much faster!
Connor Soren was born at 8:11am weighing 6lb10oz and 19" long

After weighing myself at 9 days PP I found out that I have no baby weight to lose I weigh less than 1/2lb more than i weighed when I got pregnant so now I can start working on losing the last 10lbs I wanted to get rid of before getting pregnant...well eventually I'll start working on it, just not right now so I can make sure the boys are getting what they need.
