Hi guys

My combi-fed LO has just started solids. Were doing a mix of TW and BLW.

Since we started, LO seems to be getting more and more constipated. She is breastfed on demand but I have low supply so she is supplemented with formula.

I offer water in a bottle, cup or sippy cup but as soon as she tastes that its water not milk, she stops drinking and spits it out.

Is there anything I can give her instead to try? Some diluted juice or something?

Thanks x

Sounds like my lo! I try to sneak in spoonfuls of water in between feeding her the food but sneaky girl knows and blows bubbles or gurgles to spit it out, then smiles in triumph sigh. I've resorted to just giving her water in a bottle after eating and letting her drink as much as she wants, usually that's just 1 oz at once..but at least she tries and doesn't push it away entirely  Doctor said it's fine, just keep offering it several times a day. Hopefully they start getting the hang of it!

Try offering fruits beginning with P as well! I give lo peaches, pears, prunes (though they don't go down well!) as finger food, and really helps him. As your doing puree as well, blend some up as well for spoon feeding!

My LO is 14 months but orange juice always gives us a nappy, we dilute it with water. (I dread to think what 'full' power orange juice would produce!)

Keep offering the water, but prune puree (soak the prunes in water overnight and then blend, add some water in the mix too) was the one and only way we got her moving when we first started weaning xx

As far ass constipation goes I have been told orange juice and water, a tiny amount of brown sugar and water and pressing the sole of the foot by the ball while baby is on their back, and u can 'pump' their legs towards their chest at the same time! Seems to work wonders for friends whose babies get constipated easily. As for the water-persevere! My LO hated it to begin with but now she gets excited when she sees her water bottle and loves it!! Quite often she prefers it to her food!!
