I'm so constipated, but when I finally get unconstipated (via daily probiotics) I vomit. I don't vomit otherwise. Is it just me, but I got to use the bathroom and pushing even slightly (gross I know sorry...) makes me vomit. I've been keeping plastic bags in my bathroom for this wonderful problem. Is it just me? Or is the constipation making me ill? Maybe its both constipation and ms? I feel like such a weirdo for even asking

Constipation can cause nausea and vomiting. Sry I cant help more, ill be askig my doc today b/c nothing is working for my constipation.

Ahh yes, I've experienced that too.

I've had horrendous trouble with constipation since pretty much the beginning of my pregnancy, and on the times when I was actually able to go to the toilet it tended to be in pretty unpleasant circumstances... stomach cramping, quite a lot of pressure etc etc.

I put it down to the fact that I was feeling nauseous from the MS anyway, but when my bowels were bad it definitely made the nausea even worse. On two nights when my stomach was really cramping I literally vomited too. I had a towel next to the toilet just in case, but most of the time I could tell just before it was getting to the point of actually throwing up so I'd flush the loo and quickly change positions! Lovely ay.

Sorry if it's TMI, but I thought it might help to know that someone else has been there too. I'm still suffering from the constipation but now that my MS has started to ease off I haven't been feeling sick so much when having toilet troubles. So I am putting it down to a combination of the two. If you think you are getting really blocked up though then definitely go and see your Dr as if you get too constipated that will just make things even worse and can cause you to feel sick on it's own.

Good Luck! :hugs:

This is really gross, and I apologize, but be very careful that the vomit doesn't resemble fecal matter in smell, because that is a sign of being dangerously impacted. (just had to get that disclaimer out there!)

That doesn't happen to me, but sometimes when I vomit, things do involuntarily come out the other end :)s), so the muscle actions are probably somewhat linked. Sorry you're having a rough time of it!

Just another random thought... when we're "pushing", we're creating pressure in our stomachs, so I guess things have got to move one way or another. If we're having trouble at the bottom and we already feel sick then maybe our body thinks why not head upwards instead?
I have no idea if that is what's happening, there just seems to be some logic in it to me!

Might be TMI, but instead of a towel I put a plastic baggie in the waste basket and just vomit in it. The thought of jumping around and flipping back and forth actually makes me a little more sick to my stomach.

I dont really have morning sickness though at all. i get a lil dizzy from time to time, but aside from like once a week when I have to finally use the bathroom I get very sick. I have an appointment soon, so I plan to ask about it. Sometimes its soo bad (warning gross) I vomit things that i ate for like lunch the day before. Its so weird.

As gross and painful as it is, at least its not just me right? However, I feel terrible that others have this too because it is really unbearable

Hehe sorry ladies but I love how gross we are! I'm constantly nauseous and slightly constipated so haven't had this problem... Yet! xx

Flipping around definitely wasn't the highlight of my pregnancy so far I have to admit, but I was keen to avoid having to clean the towel! The first time it happened I didn't really have chance to think about getting a plastic bag or anything, but that probably would have made life a little easier! :dohh: (As long as it wasn't one with those little holes in the bottom anyway!)

So no, this has definitely been happening to me too - but the only thing is, as I mentioned before, I was already feeling nauseous a lot of the time anyway so it wasn't that much of a leap for me to progress to throwing up. If you're not even nauseous except when you're having toilet troubles then I guess that's slightly different. I'm sure it will be fine but if you feel like you're getting really blocked up down there and and never fully emptying then maybe it would be worth mentioning it to the Dr? Just to double check the constipation isn't getting out of control if it is that causing the nausea rather than MS.

I'll have my fingers crossed for you that you get it sorted soon! :flower:

:haha: I know! I love how quickly shame and dignity goes out of the window once you are pregnant! My poor family have heard more about my bowels than I'm sure they ever dreamt off!! :dohh:

And here's to hoping that you don't have the joys of this problem :winkwink:

I just stumbled upon this thread and it's exactly what has happened to me this evening. My stomach is cramping from being constipated (ehhh, TMI!) and I'm SO nauseated I've almost puked several times. Why must this happen to us?! :nope:

Why must this happen to us?! :nope:

It's definitely the side of pregnancy that nobody ever warned me about! :nope:

Thankfully though the morning sickness has definitely started to ease off for me now, so fingers crossed we all start to feel a bit better soon. :headspin:

OMG this sounds awful! I do empathise. I am very constipated and have ms but I haven't had the two at the same time like you poor guys  I know pregnancy can be undignified, unpleasant and difficult but honestly you wouldn't wish that on your worst enemy. Hope you get better and I have my fx I don't get this awful problem x

Aww bless you, hopefully at least now that you've cleared your system out you can start fresh!
The first thing my GP tried me on was Lactulose... ... I've never known anything like it! I ended up having to hide it at the back of the cupboard because even the sight of it made me heave! :dohh: :haha: That was clearly never going to work for me...

Ahh yep tried Fybogel as well... that did actually taste of orange at least, but unless you gulp it down in the first 30 seconds of making it (which will in itself make you sick) it turns into wallpaper paste! I decided in the end that it'd be more bearable to force down Weetabix and wholemeal bread several times a day.

The Lactulose doesn't technically taste that bad, it's just ridiculously sweet and sticky. You can't get it down quick because you have to practically slurp it off the spoon and then it gets all stuck round your teeth/on your tongue. So if you don't like the taste you're not going to have much luck. It definitely didn't agree with my morning (all day!) sickness...

Oh the things we put ourselves through...

yep lol terrible lol i never had this with my other 2 :-/

I have been prescribed Lactulose. Like you say, it doesn't do anything for the MS does it. It only seems to work now and again on the consitpation too. Not sure I fancy fybrogel....

if lactulose doesnt work for you i doubt fybogel will as its the same kind of thing but lactulose is stronger :-/
