Contraceptive Patch

Hi just a couple of questions if anybody has any info,
I had Jayden nearly 4 weeks ago, still bleeding lightly on and off, with the patch can you take it even if AF hasn't started properly again?

Also has anybody got pregnant whilst using it? I really don't think i could manage another little one so soon after Jayden lol.

Any advice would be great thanks x

i am not sure you could start on the patch but i would imagine you would just have to use something else for the first 7 days. ive still got a packet upstairs ill check the leaflet for you.

i didnt like it tbh coz it kept getting caught on my clothes and coming off. i went through a whole months worth of patches in 3 days coz the edges were so sticky they stuck to my pants and when i went to the toilet or get changed it came off then wouldnt stick back on again.

dont know anyone who has fallen pg on it though but almost everyone i have known had had the same problems i have had and have come off it quite quickly.

Thankyou! managed to get a prescription for 12 patches today, will pick them up tomorrow, somehow i dont think 12 patches will last 12 weeks if they come off alot lol

you might find you get on alot better than i did.

i would put them on at night so you are giving them a chance to stick properly

let me know how you get on with them.

I am on the patch and it is fab, i haven't had any problem of it coming off yet! Was on the pill but was forgetting to take it, least with the patch you only change once a week!

I was on the patch for 2 years before coming off to TTC LO.

I never had any problems at all and will certainly be going back on the patch once i have finished BF.

I forgot to update, sorry, i only had the patch on 6 hours and i started getting severe leg pain, + chest pain, i rung the nhs they told me to take it off + come in if not better, the next morning i felt fine so im unsure if its related or not. i haven't had chance to go back to the doctors yet so at my p/n check up i will get some advice. x

I know thats what i'm thinking, or maybe i was anxious about it so started showing symptoms? I'm odd like that! lol x

I would say keep with the routine even if af doesn't come. I was on the patch for awhile but I think i'm switching to the pill, there has been alot of talk about the patch not being safe. Someone recently died here in the states and they attributed it to the patch, and there are the other risks....I mean everything has risks, but atleast the pill has been around longer. Good luck.

I got pregnant while on the patch with my LO, it doesnt happen very often, but i was one of the (at the time) unlucky ones. It also surpressed early pregnancy symptoms, so i didnt find out till i was 15 weeks along.

needless to say it was a hell of a shock.

I couldnt be happier with my LO now, but we werent planning on having a baby for at least 3 years, so it changed our lifes forever.
