cough syrup okay?

Is cough syrup okay? None of those with alcohol, sleep aids or decongestants. I have one that was cleared for breast feeding. I'm using hot lemon tea and spoonfuls of honey right now but I'm coughing so much my throat is raw.

My midwife told me that as long as its just one with glycerin in it to coat the throat but nothing else then it's fine. It made no difference tbh, hot honey and lemon was all that did! Hope you feel better.

Thanks, the hot tea and spoon of honey helped calm the cough down for now so I'll stick with that and only do the syrup if I get desperate through the night.

When I was pregnant last time I found a particular type of benilyn cough syrup (think it was the one in the purple box) that didn't have a warning about not taking in pregnancy/breastfeeding on it and their other one had a warning in bold saying do not use whilst pregnant or breastfeeding so I asked the pharmacist and was told that the other one was fine xx
