I’m 26 years old and I had been taking the pill for about 5 and a half years, and took my last one September 18th. My periods are fairly regular, but can vary from 26 to 30 days. Usually I would get my period the day after I took my last pill, but I didn't get it until Sept 21st - still normal for my cycle though. My period felt very much like the ones I had when I was on the pill - the only difference I saw in my cycle is that around ovulation time, my nipples were very sore and stayed that way for over a week, usually I only feel that way for 2-3 days.
We have been TTC for about a month and a half. I got my next period at 26 days on Oct 17th, and we were very actively trying between about the 24th and Nov 1st, having assumed that I would ovulate on the 31st. We also had sex a few times between Nov 2nd and 12th.
Now I have to say I am very much looking for symptoms of pregnancy, so I just don't know whether I'm seeing things or not! But starting on the 31st, I began feeling like I was about to get my period (lower abdominal cramps & lower back pain - very normal for me on a few hours before I get my period). I assumed this might be due to ovulation, even though I have NEVER experienced this during ovulation before, but I figured that it might be a side effect of getting off the pill. I felt like that for about 3 to 4 days, and then I started having increased white/clear cervical mucus and my nipples were a bit sore. Then I felt completely normal for a few days, and then last week (Nov 8/9th), I again started feeling like I was about to get my period - this would make it a week early. But nothing. I read up on implantation, and found out you could feel like you're PMS-ing during implantation, but I had no bleeding. My period was due yesterday, and yesterday afternoon/evening I totally felt like it was about to come - but nothing yet. Today it’s been on and off and I noticed an increase in my cervical mucus again, very white and slimy - I've just read this is common right before your period, but it's never been for me.
Other than that, I haven't really felt/seen anything that would make me think I'm pregnant. I have a bit of aversion to some foods I usually like, and I crave milk like crazy, usually I drank very little of it. The other thing I've noticed is that I have been having very regular (once a day, but it used to be once every 2 days) and easy bowel movements for about 2 weeks - I'm thinking this might be a side effect of the folic acid I've been taking for about 6 weeks? I don't see how it could be related to pregnancy, usually you're constipated from what I've heard.
I want to wait another 2 or 3 days before taking a pregnancy test because I know my cycle can go up to 30 days (which is tomorrow) and because I really don't want to be disappointed! I know in the past my period was delayed for a few days when I was really stressed, but as much as I really want to have a baby (like now!) and do have moments of stress, generally I feel pretty happy and good these days, so I don't feel like my emotions are running so high as to really affect my period coming on time.
    So...thoughts?

truthfully, I experienced all the symptoms you say your experiencing, in a similar order, when coming off my pill too! I came of it, mid September, had my usual bleed then a 53 days cycle and my AF returned . . . apparently it is quite common to get "pregnancy" symptoms when coming off BCP, however just because this happened to me and others it doesn't mean that you are not pregnant!
There are some girls on here who never got there AF after coming off the pill because they caught pregnant straight away!
So of course you could be too!! The only way to tell would be a early response HPT
GL and FX'ed its your BFP :D

    :dust: to you!!!!

and also, of course if you have had stressed related delayed AF in the past it could also be this as this is a uber stressful time for us all!! lol bit still good luck! and test test test :D if you use a early response HPT you should be able to pick it up now, seen as you are due tomorrow!! :D

    thanks for the info :)

I have to ask...how to you deal with the stress??? I have some days where I feel very happy and others where I just panic, and start thinking I can't conceive, or that it will take forever, an it seems like all I see everywhere I go are pregnant women and babies.....and it's sooooo hard sometimes! I try not to stress because I know it's not good when you're trying to conceive, but it's really hard, and then I stress about the fact that I'm stressed...LOL Sometimes my thoughts are really overwhelming.....

No worries sweet . . . erm well my tactic this month is to keep myself busy! as my current stress is that I'm not ovulating yet (I don't know if I have started again after coming off BCP and it scares me that I won't start again naturally! lol so I'm using OPK's every day to see if I have started ovulating yet, gonna go onto BBT charting soon I think!)
I do stress over a lot . . . always! Theres always something baby related on my mind! lol
another tactic for me is coming on here and venting all my stress and rant because as much as I love DH he just doesn't seem to get it quite as much as me! pfft men! tehe
and tbh I have enough stress in my life atm (im my mums carer as her and her dad have both been diagnosed with cancer in the last 6 months! lol gotta LOL or i'd go insane :haha:) so I just really try not to let it over rule my life!
I have my time's where I freak out about things . . . it being hard to conceive, stress, not ovulating etc but really, when I'm busy doing something with someone . . . anyone in fact, I find myself just getting on with my day!
and if I have a lil freak out (okay a big freak out, I never do anything by halves!! haha), I come on here rant and rage and I seem to chill out after a bit!
a little bit of stress shouldn't hinder your chances too much! so don't worry about it too much! tehe

    :dust: to you sweet <3

You very well could be pregnant. I got pregnant the first month off the pill. I was crampy and would have some symptoms that you are describing and then they'd go away. I didn't get my BFP until I was 7 days late though. Not that you shouldn't go ahead and test. I read everywhere where people get BFP very early. I think I just ovulated later than I thought I did b/c of coming off of BCP.

You can get tests at The Dollar Tree for $1.

When I was pregnant I just knew I was. I don't know why. But I knew it. Even though I got negative results 5 times in a row. My husband started making fun of me until I got my BFP and was like SHA-BAM! In your face! I'm not crazy! I'm pregnant... LOL

Question Kato2....was it only your 2nd cycle after coming off the pill that was longer than usual - did it go back to normal after that? How long did it take for your cycles to normalize?? thx
