I am 22,iv been on depo for 5 yrs coming off it april 2009,didnt get period until dec 09,since then periods have been all over the place last 2 months have been 32 this month im on cd37 no sign of af bfn tests

My first af ever was at 12 and remeber them only happening 4-5 times a yr-then 15 i went on depo which completely took away af.

- i have always had acne and use prescriptive cream to control it but lately its got worse
-my weight yoyo's and find it difficult to lose weight and keep it off
-my af is v heavy and get v painful cramps
-i have noticed i have developed excesive amount of hair esp from my belly button going down.and more hair in other places (soz tmi)
-i also have nr pos opks nearly all time and at least 5 diff pos throughout a cycle.
-this is my 9month ttc with no luck.

for a long time i put it down to my IBS and b4 that it was IBS and depo
Can these symptoms be masked by being on depo injection

Shall i go get tested?i hate going to dr's and have been putting it off using lots of excuses

pls someone shed some light:cry:

Hiya, yep, sounds like PCOS to me.

I have most of your symptoms like acne, fluctuating weight, almost positive opk's but no excess hair.
You should definitely go to the Dr to have some bloods done and an ultra sound.

I'm currently on Metformin and Clomid.

Hi honey... all your symptoms do definitely sound like PCOS. I have almost all of the same symptoms, minus the positive OPK's since I haven't started using OPK's yet, and I have just been diagnosed with it.

I hate going to the doctor as well, but I am so glad I finally just sucked it up and did it. It's a relief to know for sure that it's PCOS, and I know there are things my doctor can do to help me get pregnant. I would definitely recommend that you go and be tested... it really wasn't that bad!!! All they had to do was a blood test (and in some cases an ultrasound).:hugs:

I go back Thursday to discuss my treatment options and TTC.

Im in the same exact situation as you. Ive heard of alot of women that has been on depo and now are having problems getting pregnant. My doctor has told me that she believes I have PCOS but that she wants a FS to diagnose me.

Are you seeing a doctor for TTC?

The tests done for diagnosing are very easy just a simple blood test and possibly an ultrasound so its definatly something you should get taken care of so you can get your BFP sooner!

thanks ladies,im going to call dr's tomos morning
No havent seen dr ttc as iv it took 10 months to get cycle back, had it bk on off since december.....its a new dr thats why im bit worried.....havent been to dr's since last depo shot

hi just wanted to say that if it turns out you do have pcos it doesnt mean you always will i was diagnosed with it in 2003 and it was confirmed early this year i no longer have it, for me the symptoms were periods 3 x a year, spots, and very very painful periods to the point where i felt faint. i was diagnosed with blood tests and an internal ultrasound scan.

good luck

:) thx hun i always thort it was for life......
if i do have it i will do everything to help it......i must start trying to lose weight reguardless xxx:hugs:

If it does turn out that you do have it they will most likely give you a pill called Metformin which helps shed pounds, unfortunatly it has some bad side affects.

My Mum had PCOS (with all the lovely side effects) until she had me (conceived naturally!). After labour ALL the symptoms disappeared so she thinks her hormones almost re-set themselves and PCOS cleared up!

With Metformin Id just recommend that you insist on the Extended Release one. iT'S 100 times better than the regular one and only usually gives the runs :haha:

Definitely get yourself tested. Its just a blood test and probably an ultrascan.

I'm on Metformin and Clomid now for my PCOS. Metformin didn't make me shed any weight though! :( And it had horrible side effects when I started. So I won't entirely recommend it.
