I'm sending a courier out to someone to collect something I have bought. I'm not sure of the weight of it but it shouldn't be very heavy due to what it is, and I do t think the seller knows the exact weight. If I put in an estimate for the couriers say 2kg if when they collect it it weighs more than 2kg what will they do? Will they not take it?

No I always use approx weights, I don't think they weigh it :) When I sell prams and courier them, I normally look on the website for the item and it usually shows boxed weight

just give an approx weight but try and go heigher rather than lower they usually ask to see if they can lift it so over or under 30 kgs

As couriers work on a similar system to the PO (i.e. prices are by weight) then yes I imagine they would refuse to take it and I imagine you will lose your money. The courier I use has three weight limit boundaries 0-3kg, 4-10kg and then 10-30kg. Obviously the heavier it is the more expensive it is going to be.

If you know its going to fit into a certain bracket (it will list on the courier website)- then don't worry about it- but if your not sure always go higher if you really cant find out the weight. Maybe ask the seller to weigh it if she could- lots of people have scales at home!
