Lo started to crawl yesterday! :happydance: we are delighted as she is attending physio and we've been doing lots of tummy time etc with her. I know its early days but she crawls reasonably well on carpet but her legs slide on wooden floors/tiles. Did anyone else find this? Should i put jeans on her for more grip? I presume she'll improve with practice anyhow.

Maybe put a rug or towel down to help.
I hink if they learn on carpet they may struggle on smooth floors initially, but once they regularly crawl it won't matter so much.

We have wooden floors and Maria slipped a fair bit at first but soon got better.

Same here we have wooden tiled and carpeted floors and lo can crawl happily on all of them now. Was funny to watch her on the hard floors to start with her little legs would be trying to move and they would just slip backwards and forwards which she seemed to find really funny.

Jaxon learned to crawl on carpet, then we moved to a house with hardwood floors. It took him awhile to crawl on them with out slipping. now he's running (WOOHOO) around like a mad man, hardly ever falling.

At first Avery refused to crawl on tiles or hard surfaces, then she learned to crawl on them on her feet instead of knees. Your LO will figure out how she prefers to crawl on different surfaces. It's definitely a matter of practice.

Wow, he is walking really early!
Thanks for all the replies

My little man cheats on the wooden floor, he gets on all fours, moves his hands forward normally then drags his knees forward so they slide on the floor. He crawls normally on carpet though!
