I had an emergency scan last week due to some bleeding.

Very quickly the sonographer said, 'look, there's your baby and there's a good strong heartbeat'. Of course, I instantly felt relief at the time.

She said she thought I was about 6 and a half weeks which made sense to me as the clearblue pregnancy indicator said it was 3+ weeks since conception the week before.

But then she went to the computer to calculate my due date and it suggested I was more like 5 and a half weeks.

The sonographer said that it's probably just because it's not so easy to date a pregnancy before 7 weeks so they will date at my 12 week scan.

Anyway, since then I looked at my scan and saw the CRL as 3mm. Stupidly I started googling to find out what that meant and gradually realised that that's quite small.

The sonographer didn't seem worried at the time, so am I just paranoid over nothing?

Thanks

At my 6w 5d scan mine measured 4.6mm which is quite small too, but it all depends how baby was layin and if she got the whole CRL for measurements. But if u saw the HB then your defo over 6 weeks :) i wudnt worry as everythings looks gd for now and baby wil have a growth spurt in time for your 12 week scan

hi

we had the same... don't worry! our first scan, they saw a sac but nothing else so I was panicking, especiall becuase I thought I should be 6 weeks. a week later and we saw a hb and measured 4.6mm.

the consultant said the same to us as to you. said that they magnify it so much at that early stage, that they can't really trust the measurements 100% so rely on the heartbeat to show viability. she also said to me that growth between scans is more important than size in mm.

good luck... it sounds as though everything is perfect!

xx

Thank you so much ladies. I should know better than to Google these things!

Hi Hun, actually a HB doesn't mean ur past 6 weeks as I saw my babys HB at 5w5d last time. So you cud have a perfectly happy 5 or 6 seeker in there! :) Either way - either is brilliant news!!! Congrats

I'm 7w and had an emergency scan on Monday at 6w6d and mines only 1.9mm, and they didn't seem worried x

I don't mind not being as far along as I thought as I was only going by what the CB test said and from what I gather they can be as much as 1 week out. So long as everything's ok.

I feel much more reassured now, thanks. X

Hi, just wanted to add I had an emergency scan and was put at 6 weeks 1 day and measured 2mm. Nothing was said and all has been fine since. Just wanted to add another positive post for you x

this made me laugh! on my last appointment with my consultant she said to me, "Kiley - have you not realised yet that Google is not your friend? I am".

:haha:

Mummyk2b, if only I could resist the calling of Google. I always expect to find information that reassures me but usually find the opposite.

Think I will stick with asking you girls from now on! Lol.
