Every single place we have gone to eat at doesn't provide a smaller fork etc for toddlers...weve been out to a new place near us tonight and I asked for a fork for connah and got the reply 'sorry he will have to use a normal one.' He could hardly manage and he won't use his fingers,he likes to use a fork.

Is this the norm everywhere?or am I being picky?

i think it's the norm! it is stupid though. it's either normal fork or a tiny weaning spoon!

I always have extra in our diaper bag that I leave in the car incase. But if I know for sure we are going out to eat I pack spoon, fork, sippycup of her milk, and even a small container of fruit or applesauce or yogurt or something. Nowhere we have been has had smaller cultlery. Most have 1% milk vs whole which is what she is used to, and most don't include a fruit and veggie in the children's menu. Even if she is just sharing ours it doesn't come with any fruit usually. It also is something for her to start on when waiting for the food to come as smelling food she gets pretty hungry!
I just pack it all in a ziplock bag and stick it in my purse along with her a ziplock bag full of crayons, a notebook, and stickers.

I'd never expect a restaurant to have any. We've always brought our own.

Sophie will only eat with a "grown-up" fork whether at home or restaurant, so no problem here :)

We recently booked a table at a local restaurant and was impressed to find that when we arrived the highchair was at the table ready along with a placemat, napkin and toddler cutlery  big brownie points!

Normal, but very stupid. We always forget to bring Ruby's fork so she uses her fingers, oh well.

Fingers here too - at home mostly too atm lol

Normal.
We try and remember to take our own but AJ will eat with his fingers and a teaspoon even if he has a fork! :dohh:

I bring her own from home, she tried to use a big fork but it's just terrifying

I can't think of any actual restaurants that provide toddler cutlery. We usually take our own if we know ours can't cope with the big one.

we take our own, we tend to have some spare in her bag anyway incase as she got several sets of cutlery as presents, although she is quite happy to use adult cutlery and often does so at home

Tyler will use any cutlery now but when he was younger i would take a small cutlery set nearly everywhere with us.

We went to Pizza express once and they had toddler cutlery. :D
To be honest, i think its really bad that places dont have cutlery.
They have highchairs, so why do they think that the person in the highchair wont need cutlery?!

xx

I used to take our own but she manages a big one now. You could ask for a teaspoon maybe?

I have a small set in a pencil case in my bag that I've been taking out since I discovered this was a common problem almost everywhere! A local place gave me a dessert fork before and that was fine but the adult ones are just too big.

Normal. I've taken to having a travel set with me that she can use when we eat out.
