CVS test?

Hi everyone.

Have a friend who is pregnant and she is 36. Her doctor has recommended CVS test to check any chromosomal changes.

Are these invasive tests necessary always when you are over 35? If I ever get pregnant I'm not sure I would like one because of the risks and since I have been trying for almost 2 years!

Any thoughts on this?

The doctor wouldn't recommend it based on age alone, there would be other factors such as perhaps something coming up on a scan. Your question would be better placed in the pregnancy section as there might be a few women who have had one who can reassure you.
