Cycles after birth control...

DH and I decided in April that we were ready to TTC #1. I stopped birth control in April after just about 12 years straight on it. Since I stopped my cycles have been a bit wonky. My first cycle was 33 days (about 3 days longer than usual).

Today I started bleeding out of no where (CD15) this morning to the point I needed to use a tampon. After about 4 hours the bleeding seems to be gone.

I don't know if I'm on CD15 or CD1 now, or why that would have happened in the first place.

I'm very impatient and was really hoping the transition from BC to none was going to go a lot more smooth and less crazy.

Anybody have any advice, suggestions, or words of encouragement as I begin this journey?

It can take awhile for your body to adjust after coming off the pill, so give it some time and give yourself some slack If you want to see if you're ovulating, start temping, charting and using opks. Usually cycles are 'normal' after about 3 months but I believe it can take up to a year? May be worth mentioning to your doctor if you're still not regular after a few months.

It takes some of us longer to get out of the birth control pill funk. I went off the pill in December and my first two cycles where pretty close to normal, but since then they're all wonky.. now I'm averaging about 36 cycle days..

I came off bcp in December, since then my periods have ranged from 26-30 days and have been really light with a few days spotting, then half a day of bleeding. My doctor said that It can take upto 6 months to get the bcp out of your system and that she doesn't think I've been ovulating, however, this month I had continuos positive opk's and my temp showed ovulation, whereas before I only ever had 1 positive opk. Fingers crossed things will sort themselves out soon for you Hun. Xxxx
