My OH has been suffering since 'we' got pregnant .. oh, he's had it all .. sickness, swollen ankles, food cravings etc etc .. where as I had some nausea in first tri but now all ok ..

Lets just say I haven't had much sympathy for him ...

But just been reading a book (quite a technical one) which tells me that it's a well recognised feature of pregnancy .. apparently in some villages in other cultures the men take the pregnancy easy and are treated to all the attention with their problems while the women just basically carry on (does this sound familiar to anybody else??)..

Perhaps I should have shown hubby a little sympathy then :haha:

I just wondered, if anybody else's OH or DH has had any strange pregnancy symptom over the last few months?? Sounds crazy to me but thought I should ask.. xx

Oh.. and will he scream during the labour?? :nope:

Aw, my OH has had some sickness feeling but not actually vomiting thank goodness, I think its more through nerves and excitement though really. Also the more thinking of it maybe the symptoms will our I'm not sure. Cool post though :)

Yeeeppp lol mood swings, wanting to eat all crap and he has gained weight with me and hes tired ALL THE TIME lol i dont have any sympathy for him tho lol

Mine has! Haha! He has cravings, has gained weight and even has a stretch mark on his hip and I have NONE yet bahaha! He is also tired a lot!

No sympathy for my OH either. I don't mind sharing the symptoms one bit lol

My DH gained a lot of weight in the first trimester, but mostly that is because I was totally off food, and couldn't cook, so we went out to dinner all the time. Then, I had no appetite, so he ended up eating my dinner plus his :haha:.

He upped his exercise in the second trimester, and managed to loose the 10 lbs. he gained. I have only gained 13 in total, so we are about at the same place now, hahaha.

Lol, I've made a couple of posts making fun of my lovely OH about this.

He's put on a tonne of weight, all on his belly. I'm 33 weeks and hardly showing.
He's getting stretchmarks on his belly, I haven't seen a new one yet...
He has mysterious rib pain... To the point where we thought he'd cracked a rib... It just so happened, he developed this pain at the same time baby flipped breech, and has her head jammed up under, no other than the same rib...
I'm exhausted, he is too... We go have naps at lunch time lol.
I wake up of a morning and complain my hands are swollen, his are swollen too...

I could literally go on and on about it lol.

He didn't come with me for my 1 hour glucose test.... A week later when the doctor checked his ribs, and I told him all about OHs pregnancy symptoms, he was sent for a 2 hour fasting glucose test... He passed, but that was pretty good payback. Haha ;)

Yes haha gosh I can't tell you how many times I've rubbed my OH's back just since getting preggo. I rub his usually every night cause he says it hurts. He will rub my back for maybe 10min 1-2 nights a week, then its all about him lol

I saw this BBC documentary about Dads and their roles and they were citing some recent research (sorry, don't have references ) that Dads who suffer these 'pregnancy symptoms' actually go through sympathetic hormonal changes and that's why they start to get all these the same as the mother. So its 'real' enough and if they complain they're nauseated or tired, they probably feel pretty similar to us (although of course not THAT bad, LoL)

I hope he doesn't scream during labor :haha: Now that's a bit too much to digest hehehehe

Fantastic! Hehehe .. do you think he'll do the labour for you too??:winkwink:

Ooohhh, so it is real?? I'll have to lend him my tens machine :winkwink:

Seriously, I will try to be more understanding now I've heard that all you ladies have OH's going through the same thing .. daren't tell him I've shared it with you tho, he's supposed to be a tough guy!

Sounds liek a Phantom pregnancy.. I heard the other day actually, that guys can suffer!! xxx

My other half got this with our first he actually used to be sick in the mornings?I had to wait on him being sick so I could get in and be sick lol He also had cravings to and felt pain in the same place I felt pain which was spd at the time. So weird.

My husband is calling it sympathetic Pregnancy lol

my other half has become a bottomless pit and will eat anything you throw in front of him, and also has a things for a cup of gravy with bread to dip in

It's real - called Couvade Syndrome - but they don't know if it is biological or psychological. But, whatever it is, if your guy has it he sure is inclined to get sympathy for it (at least mine does!).

I can say mine has had some of the pregnancy symptoms like, being tired, food cravings, weight gain, heartburn, headaches, and even claims he threw up because of the baby, even says he cant sleep(insomnia) because of the baby, some say it looks as though he is carrying the baby...lol. He claims he is not having any more kids after this because he cant handle it. Hahahaha
I showed him NO sympathy what so ever.

well, most of the time, with my OH, it's a hangover! (weekends, and no drink in February for him as well as we get closer to d-day!)

he was watching OBEM and asked whether he could have some drugs as well....ah, no...

best wishes

My OH has managed to put on twice as much weight as I have but think thats down to the fact of he eats normally then at the random times i want to eat as well to "keep me company" lol, i said we will both be on healthier kicks after baby is here but at least i have less to loose lol. Apart from the weight gain he thankfully hasnt had any symptoms as i dont think i could cope with the moaning if he did feel as crap as this!! Men in my life at least dont cope well with illness or pain very well at all!!!

Caz xxx
