Yesterday we (John 'Snakeh' Worsley and I) welcomed to the world a lovely 6.15lb baby boy called Damian Joshua Worsley. Here begins his and our life as a family and I couldn't be happier.
After being in active labour for 13 hours and in the latent stage for 19 hours starting at dawn on friday, it was decided to use ventouse equipment, which is basically a suction on the baby's head. It didn't work and came off twice, leaving him with a patch of skin grazed off the top. Then came the forceps so he has marks on his face and neck from them. All in all very emotional for everyone present.
He was back to back and all I had throughout the later stage was gas and air and some numbing injections right at the end with an episiotomy.
But I have anti-inflamitories and paracetamol to help with the healing process, I also have John too help me get the sleep I need after no sleep for near 30 hours, gas and air does work to a certain extent but I dont recommend using it as the only pain relief.
There were a couple of funny parts, there is a finger moniter used to measure heart beat and the midwife asked me to "give me the finger"... so i stuck my middle finger up at her and laughed my head off.
Also when they notified me they were going to stitch me up I asked her "like a virgin?" but ended up singing it, made the lady laugh and so did i cause i got the gas and air back after pushing without it.
Oh and almost forgot, when i delivered the placenta i ended up splattering the poor registra (lady that delivered Damian and cut/stitched/delivered placenta) she looked shocked but amused
