Decongestant remedies for 11mth old?

Hello.

Lil' has had her first cold. I took her to the doctor as i listened to her chest with a stethoscope and she has crackles in the lower parts of her lungs. The GP knows i have alot of experience and training in chest and cardiac medicine but he totaly ignored me and said it is a cold that will pass. It isnt just a cold anymore. She has it on her chest.

Anyone know of safe medicines to help decongest her? I assume none for her age but i am hoping someone has some inspiration.

I am doing chest rubs, karvol, nasal saline, steam whilst i am in the shower, etc.

Baby olbas oil in a bowl of boiling water in her room whilst she sleeps should help. Make sure it is far out of her reach tho!

i found that steam was the only thing that helped my son when he was little, he was large for his age tho so our dr gave us the okay for meds, i also would take vicks vapor rub and put it on his socks and put them on his feet that helped some too!

So apparently even if it's chesty doesn't necessarily mean anything bad it could just be phlegm going to her chest from her nasal cavity. Though don't know how they can tell that...
I found a cut onion next to the cot helps, lifting the mattress at one end and also the chest rubs. Good luck! Amazing your LO only just getting first cold! Mine was 2 months old and has been sick non stop since.

You are right-its just that the chest sounds "dry". Never heard of an onion before. But after today anything is worth a try!

We have been very lucky but dibbed out when she was 6mths with an ecoli infection
