So every freakin' book I pick up has nice 2 foot tall glass vases right in the centre, does anyone have any ideas/tips for designing a toddler friendly family/sitting room?

I'm thinking........
cheap furniture (couch) used, for juice spills

What else?

Fake plants?

I'm thinking of a room where he can play and I can sit on the couch and study...

Lots of easily accessible storage but not too accessible that he can get everything out himself! Big floor cushions. I love going to ikea and looking at the rooms they have set up in the store. They have some great ideas

We have a playroom/Tv room So its the room we use most of the time and its kid friendly.

Sockets are covered, furtnature is high so cant be reached.

Sofa is new but leather so can be wipes clean (several times a day)

The carpet is yet to be replaced so is old and im not bothered, but will be wood when we start the room.

I dont have loads of stuff in it, i have two big toy boxes which are brown leather to match my sofa so when i put them away it doesnt look too much like a kids room. i do have a ride on car and chalkboard in there though.

But i basically keep it mimimal, less is better with kids, everything is out of reseach, when we finish knocking down walls and various other bits and bobs and finsih plastering i will use wipable paint so i can clean the walls when they get drawn on.

For me simplisity is key, less is def more. Is it going to be your only living space? if so i would recommned a good leather sofa so you can wipe it down, and simular boxes so once kids are asleep it can look adult again.

Leather sofa
Big snuggly carpet/rug
Beanbag
Chest for toys
Floor cushions

ummmmm yeah, thats all I can think of!

I keep everything as simple and uncluttered as possible. Covered sockets, commercial carpeting to make it warmer and softer for kids, overstuffed cushions, leather couches and lounger, just wipe clean unscratchable tables with rounded corners, TV on the wall away from little fingers, bins for toys and such. We tend to congregate to that room a lot because it's so cosy.
