diaper rash ? .. but in a weird place? help, please!

My LO seems to have what I would assume is a diaper rash. but it's not on his bum ..

its like below his belly button, but above his tinkle. its a patch of red bumps, about the size of a dollar. looks like there's actually a tiny bit on his actually tinkle, at the very very bottom.

does appear to hurt him at all.

does this sound like a diaper rash? what could have caused it up there? i thought it would be on his bum if he ever got one?

i've put some penaten on it and have been changing his diaper more frequently. anything else i should be doing?

Is he teething? It could be from that. Teething can cause rashes.

Could it be a bit of heat rash? Maddie has gotten it before there but I assumed it was just from being hot and the diaper rubbing? xx

ETA: Maddie had a yeast infection that went from her girly bits up to about there from the time she was born until 2 months old...doctor just gave us butt paste for it until I mentioned to her again because it would get better than come back and asked if that's what it could have been so she gave me a prescription for a cream for it and it all went away within a day and a half! So keep an eye on it just incase! I thought bum rash at first but it wasnt on her bum that's when I started thinking it was a yeast infection!

that's ok! i don't htink its eczema because he had a bit of that on his check and cheeks a few weeks ago which is now cleared up, but it looks completly diff!

hes been showing some other signs of teething, especially excessive drooling, but hes a bit young for teething.

the only other thing i can thing of is maybe he peed up instead of down and it gave him a rash up there

but idk what diaper rash is even suppose to look like..

these are just little red bumps and the skin is red as well

I'm not sure what diaper rash looks like either. I thought Hana had it the other day...it was red and a little bumpy on her bum, but it was just this really small area. My friend (who is my resident expert, as she has 2 kids) diagnosed her "diaper rash" as just irritated skin and diagnosed me as "an idiot". LOL Sure enough, the next day it was gone.
I've heard teething can cause rashes, but I'm not sure if these rashes can be anywhere on the body, iykwim? He is kind of young, but I think babies can start teething earlier than that.
Maybe google diaper rash and see if there are pictures you can compare?

ohh i googled them .. the [iccs on google are terrifying and my baby would be at A&E long before his bum ever looked like those!

his is red and bumpy oo like you described .. maybe it'll be gone in the morning

Nope! Not necessarily! Madison has been teething since she was about 2 months!! They can have teething symptoms months before they cut their first tooth!! xx

My boy had exactly that! It was diaper rash for sure (for us anyways). It ended up going up his tummy and down his legs. It broke my heart. It's from moisture and boys pee out, girls pee down, if you get what I'm saying. When girls lie down their pee will go between their bums. But there's a good chance that boys will sit right on their belly area / waist band of the diaper area.

dod it take long to clear up? .. LO doesn't seem bothered by it ATM, how did your react? how did you treat it?

At first it was subtle but then after a day or two I got worse. Naturally I freaked! Lol. I used panteten and other lotions but they didn't work. I went to the pharmacist and she said 90% of diaper rashes are acutally yeast infections and told me to use a yeast infection cream. (the diaper rash cream will stop it from getting worse but won't reverse what's already there, she said).

With lots of bare bum time and lots of yeast infection cream it did the trick. It took about three days to get over the worst of it and a full week to get over all of it.

Oh yeah. My boy didn't react at all. He seemed totally unaffected about it.
