My Daughter hates tummy time infact she hardly rolls over because she hates it. ( she can roll both ways) shes 6 months just now and is doing ok with her sitting.

But my question is will she crawl? Although not from the tummy position or will she just be one of those babies that just walk? X

My DS hated tummy time and he just went straight to cruising at 8 months. He learned to crawl at 11 months but just to get across the gaps in the furniture that didn't have something for him to hold onto.

DS1 was the same, hated tummy time. He never really crawled - he had a brief period of a sort of three-limbed shuffle dragging one leg, but quickly moved on to walking just after his first birthday

That's how mine crawled too!

My eldest HATED tummy time. She never done it, ever. She cruised at 8 months and started crawling at 9.5 months. She walked 2 weeks later, So crawling was short lived.

Dd2 was always quite happy to do tummy time and she was my earliest crawler (6mos) walked at 9mos.

Dd3 wasnt keen on tummy time (not quite as bad as dd1) and she crawled the day before 8 months. She walked at 9.5mos

I can't say what she will do, but if she's doing "ok" at sitting, I wouldn't worry. Both of mine did not like to be placed on their bellies until they could roll. This is normal infant behavior and I think instead of parents being told to place their babies on their bellies, they should be told to place their babies on their backs on a flat surface that does not restrict their movement. When you do this with a baby, they will learn to move, roll, crawl, and sit in their own time. I never even bothered trying tummy time. I placed my babies on the floor to play on their backs. They decided on their own when to start playing on their bellies.

Thanks for the input ladies. I dont think she will crawl either. I mostly put her on the floor to play, she starts off sitting and after a few falls i just leave her on her back to play- if she falls on her front she freaks out. I think shes keen to be on the move as she loves watching her cousins run about. X

Not all babies crawl, but most do and more than likely she just needs to get used to it more. My daughter didn't really like tummy time until 6-7 months. But even short bursts of it are good. You can roll her onto her tummy after changing her for 30 seconds and that's plenty. Babywearing or lying her on your chest as you sit on the sofa also counts as tummy time and is great for strengthening their backs and necks. Sometime around 6 months though, she started to really enjoy tummy time and would happily spent time on the floor pushing up. She crawled at 8 months on the dot and was standing an cruising 2 weeks later. So there is still plenty of time, but I would keep trying different things because she'll probably eventually start to enjoy it.

Micah hated tummy time as a newborn but at 3 months I rolled a towel up under his arms to hold him up a bit and suddenly loved it and flipped over to his front at every opportunity, then army crawled by 5 months and was a nightmare to contain! In my group of friends most babies crawled but some bum shuffled instead. It didn't seem to make any difference when they walked. They just got about in the way that they felt comfortable.
