Did your pain threshold change?

Cause I used to be a wuss, like at the dentist, now I shrug at any + all pain ... because I know what pain is, LOL. 2 days without drugs (yes, I took the epi on the 3rd!).

Weaker sex? Uhhh noo

I took pethidine! haha! I'm still a wuss. I was writhing in pain two nights ago because I had food poisoning and called NHS direct in the hope they'd tell me to go to Hospital. I slept 2 hours.

But I don't think my labour was so bad. The recovery time was AWFUL for me. It's different types of pain. I'm a great sufferer of man flu.

I'm totally afraid of pain now!! Before I had the baby, I thought I had quite a high pain threshold. I've had tons of tattoos, loads of piercings, I broke my thumb (which is surprisingly one of the most painful breaks, according to my doctor), i've even fractured my frickin spine! Nothing compared to labour and recovery.
I avoid pain at all costs now. I'm certain I have a cavity, but i'm too scared to go to the dentist in case it hurts! What a wuss!!!

Tbh i used to be a right chicken before giving birth, now I think nothing can be worse than labour!

Before I had Dylan, I thought I would scream, cry, panic, demand all the drugs etc but I did ok! Remained calm, didn't shout anyone etc however, a few weeks ago when in pain with my wisdom teeth I was in tears! Weird x

I had 36 hours with only gas and air for the last 3..... so I kind of think if I can get through that I can get through anything so pain doesn't really worry me as I know I'll get through it.

mine went through the roof after my son was born, i have 2 bulging discs which can really flare up, i get electric shock pains down my legs and cant breath when its really really bad, only then i will take painkillers. i had natural labour with nicole, i was convinced my sons labour wasnt that bad. i forgot i had pethadine and gas and air .

currently my disc pain is getting more and more painful and my ass bone is agony but havent taken anything yet. main reason is i cant coz of nicole, i dont want to be high as a kite on my own with her. i took zydol last xmas day and well we would still be waiting on dinner, i did put everything into the oven just never turned it on

i agree why is it that can bring tears to my eyes and labour or back pain doesnt. i hate when i do it

OMG giving birth is the worse pain ever. i had gas and air with my first and nothing at all with my second, i was apparently too late and couldnt have anything not even gas and air....

never felt any pain like it honestly, after i gave birth to my daughter i started getting contractions (which is normal after a 2nd baby apparently) really really painful i was shitting myself that there was another baby inside me and i was going to have to do it all again. lol.

after that...my pain threshold is definitely better. i remember a trip to the dentist as a tooth of mine was badly chipped, the dentist said 'i'm afraid you will have to be put under sedation to have the tooth removed' and i said 'cant you just pull it out now?' he looked at me like some sort of weird freak'.

I honestly dont know. i had gas and air right until i gave birth with my first, by the time i got to hospital with my second my body was naturally pushing and i was told i wasnt allowed any gas and air as it was too late. (she might of gave me a reason why but i cant remember it if she did. all i remember is its too late)

After i gave birth she said you can have some gas and air now if you want......was she taking the piss seriously...?

I think mine has gone up, I used to be a right wuss . I had Diamorphine with Phoebe and ened with forceps after 2hrs of pushing. I caught my back on the corner of the table quite hard the other day and OH asked if I was ok I said 'I've felt worst'

Do you know what i think your right, i think i remember something to do with breathing or not concentrating properly possibly. Although that must be a new thing as i was allowed it with my first. x
