I've just been looking at the Cow and gate website and the First infant milk and hungry baby milk has the same amount of calories. I thought for some reason that hungry baby feed would have more calories. What is the difference between them?

Hungry baby milks just have extra fillers (casein) in them which are just supposed to sit longer in babies stomach, so trick them into feeling fuller longer without delivering any additional nutritional value. They can be harder to digest and cause more problems like colic and constipation and the NHS doesn't recommend using them, especially for young babies. So yes, you're right, no difference in calories, just extra stuff in them that your baby doesn't actually need. Personally, I'd just feed all you can if your baby is hungry. They know what they need and will stop eating when they aren't hungry anymore.

^ exactly wss!

My lo was drinking every 2 hours at one point and I tried her on the sma hungry baby. It gave her an awful stomach ache that kept her up all night. I wouldn't use it again. When I look back at it now I just think it wasn't doing me any harm to feed her more often and it's better to let her have as much as she wants when she wants it and get as many calories as needed to gain weight well. I think trying to get your baby to stick to the average recommendations is just part of being a first time Mum. Not all babies will take the amount stated on the tin and go 4 hours between feeds but that's ok.

My dd uses hungry baby from 8 weeks and works perfectly for us. It all depends on the baby! She is very hungry, feeds every 2 hours during day, but every 7 hours at night.
She rarely vomits and has no wind or colic issues.
Sometimes hungry baby isn't for everyone but works perfectly for us x
