they have "raspberry leaf tea capsules 400mg" for £3.49 (100 capsules) OR

"RED raspberry leaf tea capsules 500mg" for £4.99 (30 capsules)

whats the difference?

Oh no - now Im worried ive been taking the wrong thing!!!Ive got just raspberry leaf but now I wonder if that the wrong one???Oh no!!!!x

I have read some places that say its RED RTL that is used to help strengthen the uterus... but then so many other places just say RTL and don't mention anything about it being red or not  because I've just got the normal raspberry leaf capsules from H&B and was worried I'd got the wrong ones!! Sorry not much help!! x

Im confused about the whole lot 2 lol. my mums just got me some capsules and will be getting them frm her weds, they are 900mg and she was told just 1 a day!!???x

im confused too :haha:
iv been taking the normal ones, eek!

I have been taking the normal RLT and on the back of the pack it does mention that it is used in late pregnancy so i assume that normal RLT is what we need.

xx

I went to Holland an Barret and asked....she said the ones i have, just raspeberry leaf caps, are the right ones!!Hurrah!!!x

Yay that means I have the correct ones too!!!

Raspberry Leaf tea/capsules can be used from 32weeks onwards in pregnancy Phinners... it works by strengthening the uterine muscles and making the 1st/2nd stages of labour faster x

Cheers :), is there any actual evidence to support that? Something like a peer reviewed journal? lol sorry if I sound like an arse, but I dismiss most things as snake oil until I've seen a decent study on it.

type in raspberry leaf tea reviews labour into google and it should bring up stuff - 99% of what i've read was positive, i couldnt find hardly anything negative on the stuff! :)(im a big time sceptic too)

I agree, type it in to google and have a good read! Then u can make your own mind up about it! I only hear good things about it from women that have used it, it's not harmful so at the end of the day I will try anything that is safe and within reason to help labour go a bit smoother/faster!

Thanks Kodi, I'm googling the Scholarly articles, if I can find something decent to back it up then I'll give them a whirl myself :)

Conclusions. Results from this study have shown for the first time that raspberry leaf use during pregnancy can have long-term consequences for the health of the offspring and raise concerns about the safety of this herbal preparation for use during pregnancy.

lol eff that! ^

And

Abstract
This review evaluates the safety and efficacy of raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus) in pregnancy. The electronic databases PubMed, ISI Web of Science, AMED, EMBASE, Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database and Cochrane Library were searched. Altogether 12 original publications with focus on safety or efficacy during pregnancy, pharmacology and in vitro tests explaining mode of action or constituents in Rubus idaeus were reviewed. Limited documentation exists and part of it is 50 years old or older. Only the latest animal study indicates an increased risk for the unborn child; however, all the studies are small and cannot rule out negative effects on pregnancy outcome. The efficacy of raspberry leaf is not convincingly documented.

The use of raspberry leaf in pregnancy is a traditional herbal therapy and is recommended by some midwives. Due to the lack of evidence for safety and efficacy such recommendations are questionable.

Suggestions for future work are given.

Looks like they did a meta-analysis of previous studies.

I think I'll pass. But hey, folk are free to do as they wish :)

Yeh well u can't do right for doing wrong nowadays with anything!

Seems to be like that for most things though eh?

Sorry I didnt mean to annoy anyone. xx

Don't apologise hun, u haven't annoyed me in the slightest :flower:

I'm still happy to carry on taking them as either way the evidence they do good/do bad is still quite small! So it's all trial & error, and I am just going by what other mum's have tried & tested and that is good enough for me :) x

I'm pretty sure they are the same thing :)

I'm taking Red Raspberry Leaf capsules and on the bottle it says "To help ease labour". Also I could just be sheltered but I have never seen any other color raspberry then red anyway!

Does it state when in pregnancy it can have bad effects for the baby? Coz it's widely known RLT shouldn't be taken in the early stages of pregnancy, it's recommended from 32 weeks, my MW actually suggested 36 which I did. Maybe it is referring to earlier on in pregnancy. Also it doesn't state how much, again, it is widely known there is a limit as to how much one should drink- I've read no more than 3-4 cups a day because it passes the placenta so could affect the baby. So maybe it could be discussing in RLT in too large of an amount?
