Hi

I thought it might be helpful to have a thread in which people can share their journey through fertility testing and treatment. (Apologies if such a thread exists already; I searched and couldn't find one). I know that for myself, I have spent a lot of time wondering what would come next at various stages. Of course it varies massively depending on location, nhs or private, diagnosis etc but I thought it may be of interest.

My own is as follows:

Sept 09 - go see GP after a year of ttc with existing PCOS diagnosis. Semen analysis (normal) and cd21 bloods done. Referral made to fertility clinic at hospital.

Nov 09 - See fertility dr. Advised to have HyCoSy test on next cycle.

Feb 10 - after a v long cycle, finally able to have HyCoSy. This shows one viable tube, unable to confirm other tube.

May 10 - Return to see fertility dr. Begin clomid & provera. Advised to do 3 cycles.
cycle one - 50mg cd 21 bloods show no ovulation.
cycle two - 100mg cd 21 bloods show no ovulation.

I'm due to start provera tomorrow, before cycle 3 of clomid 100mg. I'm then back at the hospital in September, with no idea what will happen next.

I'm really interested to know if other people's journeys have followed similar or different routes. If you've gone beyond clomid, what came next?

Thanks.

Here's my journey so far:

July 09 - go and see GP about this TTC business, stop BCP and she advises me to return in 3 months if I'm not pregnant - at the time thought this was very negative. Start folic acid.

Nov 09 - go back to GP after an anovulatory cycle (only 18 days), get CD3 & CD 21 bloods and DH gets his first SA

Dec 09 - my results are normal for a 36 year old, so not great, but not terrible. DH's GP says SA ok.

March 10 - get paper copy of DH's SA - "Too low to enumerate"! My GP refers us to FS

April 10 - second SA better than first, but low volume and only 6 mill :spermy:

May 10 - first FS appointment - recommends ICSI, can start IVF on next CD1. See mature 20mm follicle on U/S and good lining thickness.

June 10 - start first IVF cycle with a month on BCP! Get AHM results - surprisingly low given all other results & U/S.

July 10 - start IVF drugs, micro-dose flare (short) protocol, so far so good.

ETA: We are paying privately for this round, and will (if need be) pay for 2 more cycles. We don't qualify for public funding until next month, and there is an 11 month waiting list in our area, we don't think we can wait another year before getting the ball rolling. In NZ you get two free cycles of IVF if the woman has no children.
