We are thinking of getting some kind of baby carrier as our lo likes to be held all the time, and it makes life a little difficult at times! They cost a lot of money and I don't want to buy one without at least trying it out first. Does anyone know if mothercare let you try before you buy? I don't want to go all the way over there to find it's been a wasted trip!

I would think so, they let us try LO in the highchairs before we bought one.

I wondered this myself... I would imagine so though, as they let you try most other things x

they wouldnt let me, but mothercare here might be different to the ones in uk..

I'm not sure if they do or not. We looked there when DS was about 6 weeks because he was the same, but I found their carriers to be more like backpacks and I personally wanted something a little cozier.

I ended up getting a Moby Wrap off Amazon and couldn't sing enough praises about it. It was cheaper than a lot of carriers in stores and it was just what we needed. DS loved it because he could snuggle up against me with his arms or legs in or out and I could wear him all sorts of different ways (cradled, hugged against my chest...and even on one hip once he was older).

He's 9 mos almost now and I still use my Moby daily (so just a little plug for them if you're interested).

There's probably a Sling Meet in your area, why not go along to one and try out various different carriers? They'll be able to give you lots of help and advice.

oohh i was wondering this as my son is non-put-downable!! x

Also - there are some great reviews of pretty much every type of carrier under the sun over in natural parenting. There is a whole wonderful world of baby wearing out there, but be careful it can get quite addictive (and expensive) if you're not careful!

What she said! There's a lot more out there than they do in Mothercare/the highstreet in general, I'd definitely try and get along to a sling meet
