Do not get GARDASIL (HPV vaccine) while TTC!

I have pcos and very irregular cycles. The week before last I had some spotting and I was sure it was ovulation (or at least hoping it was). I've gotten BFN so far but it's still kind of early, I'm testing again this Friday which would be 16DPO.

So now on to the issue: I went to the doctor monday for something completely unrelated to TTC. The doctor I saw wasn't my regular doctor but she knows I'm TTC and even wrote me a prescription for frolic acid. Before she came in the nurse mentioned I needed to update my vaccines. He mentioned Tetanus and HPV. I asked the doctor about it and she said she would send in the nurse to give them to me. So I assumed since she knew I was TTC and ok'd the vaccines that they were both safe for pregnancy... WRONG!

When I got home I just had his BAD FEELING. So of course I googled this Gardasil and what I found was horrible. For one thing it is Category B meaning its "not recommended" for pregnant women, but not necessarily dangerous either. At least that's what the FDA want us to believe. Upon further investigation I found out that many women experienced miscarriages after getting the vaccine- one occurring just a few hours after -and in what seems to be the only clinical trial of its kind for this drug it was discovered that women who become pregnant within 30 days of getting the vaccine are at a higher risk for birth defects in their children! For this particular study 40 out of about 1100 women had babies with birth defects which is about 3%. Now that sounds low except the control group of women who became pregnant after getting a placebo had NO birth defects in their babies.

I'm just upset that the doctor would still order that vaccine for me knowing it's not recommended for pregnant women. It would be different if it was a one time shot but Gardasil is three different shots given over the course of six months. So obviously if I'm TTC I'd like to be PREGNANT within the next six months so how does it even make sense to start that? I can't even sue or anything because since the drug is simply "not recommended" but not categorized as dangerous, doctors are not required to test for pregnancy before giving it.

Before all this I was praying for a BFP but now I'm praying for a BFN!!! I would never forgive myself if something was wrong with my baby because I let them inject me with that stupid vaccine! Needles to say I WON'T be going back for the next two shots! My doctor was planning to put me on BCP for three months if the Metformin I'm on didn't help me get AF. And even though I initially didn't want to take it now I desperately want the BCP so I can make sure I don't get pregnant while this POISON it still in my system!

There were also reports of non pregnant women and girls having very bad side effects like rare lung disorders, Guillian Barre Syndrome, and even DYING after getting this vaccine!! But the FDA refuses to aknowlege the link between these ilnesses and the vaccine. And in some places it is mandatory and they are giving it to girls as young as nine in school! So if you have a daughter do your research and weigh the benefits vs risks and make whatever choice you think is best but please don't get this while TTC and don't give it to your daughter without educating yourself first.

I will keep you updated on Friday with my results. I will get a blood test Monday just to be sure and if I'm BFN I will definitely be getting that birth control! And if I'm BFP I will cry and pray for the best!

I actually saw a video b4 about the gardasil shot and all of its side effects and the lady in the video was saying that your better off getting hpv and having your body fight it off naturally as the body rids of it in 2 years and you become resistant to the strain than to get the shot. The gardasil shot is said to have caused more death and disease and side effects than hpv itself.

Thanks for responding! I'm pretty sure I'm BFN so I went ahead and made my appt. it's on the 12th. I'm still going to test tomorrow and I'll update for sure!

Yes please do update me! I guess this is the 1st time I'm hoping someone's not pregnant... Feels a bit weird. When do you think you'll try again when this all works itself out?

After the three months of BCP I'll probably get back to trying depending on a few different factors but that's the plan for now. I think I'm going to ask to be referred to a specialist though just to make sure my uterus/ ovaries haven't been negatively affected.

It's good to go to a specialist I'm totally not against that as I have gone to one too... It sucks though if you are still relatively young like I am and haven't been trying for a year yet as they won't really do anything for you but run some basic tests and exams.

Instead of going on BCP for 3 months why not go the natural route and try vitex for 3 months? I take 1000mg of vitex and about 1000mg dong quai in pill form during my follicular phase and it works great in helping me O.

And you will be fine I doubt the shoot has done anything. I have a friend who took the gardasil shoot and has a beautiful healthy son.

I got BFN! So I'm not as stressed anymore. I've thought about trying some natural things but right now I'm not even sure if I want to keep TTC anymore. Not because of the shot but I have other stuff going on that are making things hard right now. Since my pcos is confirmed my doctor said I can go to a specialist if I want. I have my appt coming up so I will discuss all if this with my doctor and figure out if I should keep TTC, go on BCPs, or just lower my dose of Metformin for a while. idk what I'll do but thanks for all your replies

my best friend has hpv and its not easy nor fun and I would think she rather the shot then the virus...hpv is not only annoying but it can cause cancer, which can kill you and if not your very sick from..

also she on these meds to keep the virus asleep and the meds make her really sick...
she has to stay away from stress cause stress triggers it something awful and then she is in pain and contagious for a while...

she has to inform everyone she is with that she has it and that is embarrassing....not saying she is with tons of people but imagine just being on the other side of that....how scary...

after yrs of having it , its not only down there but in her eyes and mouth as it spreads and her daughter has it now because by mistake she touched her daughter face... she swore she had washed her hands so she doesnt know what happened but she spread it to her daughter by accident...

so i would think you would rather the shot then the disease.....

my daughter has all the hpv shots and i wish i was young enough to get them....

also after years of having it , it can go to your heart and other areas....

sometimes i find it strange when people say they rather get the disease then get the virus...

Im glad we have alot of the shots that are around.....
