Do you apply sudacrem/barrier cream as standard every nappy change?

I've used metanium once but he didn't have nappy rash, just a sore looking poop hole from a loose bowel. What's the point in using nappy rash cream if they never get nappy rash. Gotta love them pampers

I voted yes, as I do use it every change regardless, only cause we were advised by hospital staff and Drs. Chloe had a bad nappy rash that casued the skin to break down and for 8 weeks it was hell. We were prescribed a spray called Cavilon and it was a godsend. I brought more from ebay cheap, and now if she looks a little red I use the spray for the day, otherwise its the cream. I probably use waaaaayyyy too much, I think were going through a 250g tub every 3 weeks! But Id rather be safe than have Chloe go through that again.

I voted yes but I don't use a medicated cream - I use Weleda nappy cream which acts as a barrier. I have a zinc oxide cream which I use only if Emma's bum is sore.

I'd rather avoid any chemicals on her as far as possible. I use an organic cream at night as she's in the nappy so long.

i dont apply anything unless i think his bum looks red which has only been once! i was told if you apply creams when they dont need it then there skin cant breath! x

That;s right hun  And when its used its meant to be a very thin thin layer

I did with the first one and I am starting down the same road witht his one.... so yes, for the most part but I have noticed some quite red sore spots on his scrotum which is why I got it out in the first place...

I only use it if his bum looks red, I used to use it every nappy change when my first was born but her bum was constantly red, then I stopped using it and it cleared up so I don't like to use it all the time.

I only apply when her bum is sore which isnt very often so I dont see the point in using creams which medication in when there is no need x

iv never once put any cream on jesses bum and never has it been even slightly red! and hes 1 in less than a month, were as i know people that are always shoving stuff on and their babies always have rashes!
x

I never use cream unless the baby has a sore bum as it clogs the nappy and stops the urine soaking in which makes it worse.A clean dry nappy and some bare bum time is much better at preventing nappy rash.None of my 3 ever had it so far in all their nappy wearing years lol

No I think I've used it once in the 8 weeks since having Summer. I don't see the point unless her bum is looking red xx

I tend to apply it most nappy changes as if i dont oliver seems to get nappy rash. But i have started to do it once in the morning and once at night before he goes to bed now.
I do it in the morning so if he has got sore through the night it will sooth it. But normally doing it before bed is finex.

I put yes because i have only changed within the last week or soo :)
