I'm hoping for a natural home birth for my second baby, I'm wondering can I write in my birth plan that I don't want to be checked for dialation? I just see it as unnecessary and inaccurate. With my first I was told I was only 5cm dilated and still had some time to go but baby boy was born 45 minutes after. So either I progressed very very quickly or they got it wrong. Anyway am I right in thinking I can decline being checked? And is anyone else going to be doing the same

Yes you can refuse examination. I plan on doing the same unless some unforeseen complication occurs and it becomes necesarry. I had a traumatic time with a very incompetent Dr last time.

Yes you can absolutely decline, I've got in my birth.plan no vaginal examination unless I say otherwise, mw has read it and taken on board x

As others have said yes, its totally up to you.
