Ok my LO is 11 mths old. He's slept 7-7 ish since he was 8 1/2 mths - that felt like a lifetime. But since then he maybe wakes once a month maybe twice for a night feed. he always take a big bottle. It was 8oz at 4.45 this morn. Then he goes straight back - well until the post man woke us all this morn. But everybody I know does that face if you say you fed him in the night. But to me it;s not a habit, he's genuinely hungry and he originally woke at 4am and I left him for half an hour or so and then it was clear he wans;t going back to sleep and he started crying -I'm not gonna leave him crying. Anybody else's 11 mth old still occasionally wake for a night feed?

Not just occasionally, every night. Last night was the first night ever that Dominic slept through without a bottle. (And when he gets a bottle I always give one to Sebastian too though for him that usually is a dream-feed) Dominic usually wants a bottle any time between 12 and 2. Both the boys' doctor and the HV told us to wean him off it and we would have in time. Now I am hoping he will after all drop it by himself :)

I dont have an older baby but if my LO woke hungry in the night at any age I'd feed him. He dropped his night feed 3 weeks ago but I always leave 2 bottles prepared before bed in case. I think I'll always have at least 1 ready untill he's off formula x

Ashley still feeds 2-3 times a night. He's BF so slightly different situation but I've decided to let him drop his feeds when he's ready. He's teething and he's got a cold so I'd rather do what I can to comfort him.

Jordan was up most of the night last night and I tried feeding her, she wanted nothing to do with it. :nope: (she has a bad cold)

A few weeks ago when she was getting teeth she was waking very early and I fed her so she would go back to sleep. She normally doesn't have a bottle at night. It worked though, she went back to sleep til 7.

Megan is 3 and still wakes sometimes and asks for water or saying she is hungry. She was awake a few nights ago with her cold with coughing and said she was hungry. She had barely eaten that day with her sore throat. She had some pediasure as she didn't want actual food and went back to sleep.

Also - even if they get something in the night.... I don't feed to sleep. I lay Jordan back down and say night night and she puts herself to sleep.

My son is a 13 months and still wakes up! When will it stop?!!

My LO still has 1-2 feedings every night, but I'm currently trying to nudge her toward taking in those calories during the day instead. I don't think giving your baby a bottle once or twice a month at night is a big deal

My baby is going on 14 months and still wakes frequently in the night and is always fed back to sleep. He's BF though so I just lie down, pull out a boob and we both go back to sleep. I believe they drop feeds when they're ready...

Occasionally, no problem. Lane has woken for a night feed once in the last five months. During her eight month regression we did the water method; since then she has taken all her calories during the daytime. I do believe babies will drop when they are ready, but I also believe you can help them do it sooner. I'm not willing to wait until she is three lol

My LO wakes numerous times a night. I just pop her straight on the boob and she goes back to sleep. Not sure if it's food or comfort she wakes for as she doesn't take much. I'm happy to continue though as I don't think she eats enough in the day, so it's reassuring that she still feeds at night.

My LO has a cold, so she's started waking once a night. When she's better or not teething she sleeps straight through. It doesn't bother me.

My LO was still waking for feeds regularly until recently. Up until about 11 months he was always really hungry in the night. He would usually drink 6 oz around 2 am. From 11 months onwards, he started only drinking a couple of ounces and I think it was becoming just a comfort/habit thing for him. So we started watering down the MOTN bottle (I'm ok with a 5-6 am bottle as that counts as morning IMO) and he seemed happy with that. We're still working on eliminating it completely but we just give him a half concentration bottle now if he wakes up and won't settle before 5 am.

I think it's working, because he often makes it to 4 or 5 am without a feed now and and he's started drinking a massive 8 oz bottle in the morning which is awesome for him, as he typically only has up to 6 oz at a time. Last night he actually slept through for the first time ever... 10 hours. Woo!

About time too - he's 1 today ;)

happy Birthday Alexander :) - mine is called Alexander too. He can wake anytime from six am for his morning bottle but I don;t class that as in the night that;s his morning bottle :) it's just sometimes he wakes at 4 and ca;t get back to sleep without it. Wahoo to sleeping 12 hours :)

Exactly this.

Quinn wakes anywhere from 3-10 times a night and I just boob her straight away.
She wouldn't take it if she didn't need it.

We rarely have to give her a bottle during the night - usually it's only if for some reason she wouldn't take any of her bedtime bottle. In those instances I'm fully prepared to feed her in the night - if I skip a meal then I get hungry earlier than usual so I'm happy to do the same for her.

If she takes a full bedtime bottle at 7pm (5oz or more) then it's extremely rare that she'll need a feed before 6.30/7am. We didn't do anything to encourage it though, she just stopped waking for them on her own.

He's never gone through the night without at least one feed, although he's younger than yours I don't see it stopping anytime soon, think its pretty normal!

but I find if I wake up and can;t get back to sleep immediately I start to feel a bit peckish but i can usually ignore it but he's only a baby. I'm sick of you can;t do this and you can;t do that! This is also sooooo selfish but I also enjoy a night feed as he;s not a cuddly baby at all but at night he's quite dopey so will be cuddled for a bit :)

Hi Robinator...

Just out of interest, do you know of any ways you can help babies take in more milk in the day time as opposed over night?

I am really struggling with my LO, I am lucky if she has 3 bottles in the day, today it was just 2, but she just refuses milk if I offer it to her and she doesnt want it.

My girls are highly distracted during the day which affects bottles greatly. Jordan would refuse daytime bottles unless in a dark room with no distractions.

And we offered less formula in her nighttime bottle gradually to cut out her middle of the night bottle at 5 months. She rarely has a bottle now during the night.

Do you offer a dream feed? You put baby down at 7pm then offer a bottle at 11pmish (or whenever you go to bed). You keep the lights down and try not to interact with them. Both mine dropped middle of the night feeds at 3 months but had an 11pm feed until 8 months. It avoids you having to get up to feed in the night and they'll just take less and less at 11pmish until they naturally drop it.
