Do you think I need to take progesterone?

I had a very unusual thing happen this cycle which has never happened before. I had a big implantation dip at 10DPO (from 37.00 to 36.70) and my temp remained the same for 4 days!! My temp never stays the same and I have been charting on and off for years. My temp did not go back up it stayed just above coverline. I really think that we caught the egg but had trouble with implantation.

My temp dropped to 36.4 and I got my period at CD29/14DPO of a usual 28-day cycle which is my normal temp for my period.

I read that if you have a "step" in your chart during the luteal phase it could indicate low progesterone. And my past cycles show this step.

With all this I think I need to start taking progesterone after ovulation. But doctors here don't prescribe it until they notice a history of miscarriage. Should I order it online? Try to get a natural cream? How much should I take?

I guess I am looking for input as I felt so sure that this cycle was a success and want to improve things the next cycle.

Have you had bloods taken CD 3 and 7DPO?

No, I haven't done any testing yet. I had hoped to try "naturally" first for awhile but I guess I better get more aggressive with testing?

I want to try the progesterone cream first but don't know where to buy without a prescription and how much to take.

I read that it can be bought over the counter at drug stores(some) and natural stores. My prescription is 200mg but i suppose it would be different for cream:) goid luck!

Okay I guess I will try the drug store and see what they say ....

Here it is only by prescription according to the pharmacist but I was able to get some online (200mg). I will take it once I ovulate.

Hi Maple,

This past cycle, I started using the progesterone cream. I had to buy it on my own because my dr said my CD21/7DPO progesterone test results were fine (6.5) but I disagreed with her.

Make sure you buy the natural cream with bio-identicals. I bought the Serenity brand from https://progesterone.com/

It was pricey ($33) and it's a small container, but it's natural. I spot from about 2-3dpo until af comes, and I did notice a small, but noticeable improvement in my spotting this first cycle using it. I used about half of the container this first cycle, so I will probably have to buy another container next month.

Make sure that you have o'd before you start using it. I applied it on my neck, chest/breasts, stomach, and inner arms. I had to stop using it on my inner arms because I started getting an annoying rash.

GL!

Thanks for your input Meli. I will be charting to be sure that I am past OV before I start. I will wait till OV+3. I am doing this without doctor supervision too.

Hope this brings a BFP for us all!

Yes! Good luck!!

It doesnt cost that much to have a progesterone test done 7DPO and you will know exactly where you stand on that. Instead of guessing.

I know that it doesn't cost alot but I am just starting out and don't want medical intervention at this point. Once it has been a few months then I will go in for testing. But for right now, I want to manage this on my own and feel a little more stress free.

I have the progesterone suppositories and will be starting a couple days past ovulation. I hope that it isn't too messy. From what I have read on here, it can be yucky!

Well I just wanted to update and say that I did CD21 progesterone testing (actually was on CD24-7DPO due to late OV) and my result was 31!!!

Great news and I feel relieved. :happydance:

All other blood work looks good too.

I still don't think that I am ready for RE/FS yet but my doctor has the referral ready for whenever I request it. I am going to give it a few more months then if no BFP, I will move on to a specialist.
