Doctors appointment...

On Monday I have my first doctors appointment with DH to start fertility tests and discuss whatever is discussed in these appointments.

I know this has probably been asked a million times... but what happens on the first appointment? Do we just talk over what tests they can do and arrange tests? Would I have any on the day?

In my first appointment I was booked in for some blood tests and DH was given a pot!

Don't be worried your are on the path to get some answrs and support that you want.

Remember me, we have been ttc for about the same length of time?

Anyway, OH and I went to docs for first time last Monday. Not much happened really for us to be honest. He just asked us a few questions - asked me what my cycles are like, if I have any problems with periods etc, how long we'd been trying and if we'd been timing BD etc. He then gave me a form to go get a blood test later this cycle, at around 7dpo, and we are waiting confirmation on where OH is to go for his SA. It reassured me a little going as he didn't seem that concerned as he said he couldn't see I had any reason not to conceive as I have regular cycle, no issues etc and it sounds like I do ovulate.

Don't worry hun, you're first appointment shouldn't involve any tests doing and may be a bit reassuring if it's anything like mine I feel a bit better since going as feel like I'm on the path to getting something sorted now.

Thanks for the reassurance. I know DH is dreading it but in a way I'm looking forward to it... to finally be on my way to possibly getting answers.

Appointment is 8.50am tomorrow so at least I don't have to wait all day wondering... lol..

I better get my charts printed

I will update this thread tomorrow with how it went. xxx

It went ok thank you. She just asked us a few questions, gave my poor DH a pot with instructions and gave me a loads of blood tests forms to book in for. Then basically she said once she's got the results back she would refer us to the hospital straight away. I can ring up for my results or go in and discuss them with her if I want but I'll be getting referred either way.

It was such a relief just knowing that the wheels are in motion and the testing can start

Glad it went ok hun. I've only got to have the one blood test, 7 days after ov to check progesterone and my thyroid level. I guess different docs do it different ways

Docs rang us yesterday to say they have a pack of stuff for OH to collect for his SA, so he's got to go pick that up.

Will you be referred no matter what results are then, even if all come out fine? x

Yeah... she said that as soon as the results are back she'll refer us. I was quite surprised actually. I assumed they'd see if they could do anything there before referring us but nope a straight referral.

If you have a look in my journal I've listed what they are testing me for. She was going to do a swab for chlamydia aswell but I had one the other month when I had a smear so I didn't have to do another.

How does your OH feel about the SA. My DH is really not looking forward it.
