Yes, it's me again!

Basically, DD always feeds for about fifty minutes spread out over six feeds...but over the last few days, she's been feeding for about 40-ish. She tends to feed for five minutes, intensely, during the day - and has a couple of long feeds topping and tailing the day.

Should I be concerned that her feeds are so short? Or does this sound ok? I've tried to steer clear of weighing her lots (she'd gained a bit last weigh-in, so was pleased)

I've noticed that it's all hind at the end - so, she's obv getting some hind, but her feeds DO seem shorter.

Any thoughts?

I guess maybe she's just getting a bit more efficient at it? Aisling's feeds always used to last about 45 minutes each and from 5 months on they started to get shorter and shorter but I assume she's still getting enough, just getting it out more quickly :D

Wow, 50mins is a long time. Sounds like she's getting more efficient to me!

Sorry, ladies - I meant 50 minutes in total! Not just one feed - so, probs 8 mins in length...and now shorter.

Haven't had a 50 mins feed for a long while :)

My bad explanation, sorry...

No, we've not started weaning yet...just seems very short, doesn't it?

I guess I'm just going by my sister's newborn who only feeds for 5 minutes max at a time and is putting on weight really well...

Lu, really? :hugs: Exhaaaaaaaaaaaaale!

Seems like she 'speed-feeds', where she really concentrates for 5 minutes, then has a more laid-back minute, and then she's done!

Yeah, my sister's LO just seems to get on and get the job done! :haha: Just put on a pound in 2 weeks too! I''m bloody jealous, we're only down to 15 minutes now, up until I think it was 6 or 7 months, they were at least 45 minutes each. Great for taking a break but not if you wanted to get anything done!

It does seem short, but if she's otherwise well then it could just be a little phase? Have you tried offering more?

Her pees and poops seem fine, and she's content. I offer her every three hours, and she has one night feed (although that's become an early morning feed) Maybe I should offer more frequently?

Lu - if DD puts on weight this week, with these short feeds...I'll be v. chuffed! That's FAB...a pound in TWO weeks!

I thought I'd be more relaxed now, but I do still worry a lot about her getting enough...she's never really been one for very long feeds, other than the first couple of weeks...they were 20 mins, then 10 mins...and now 5 mins. I really don't want them to keep getting shorter!

I guess I fret because my best bud told me her little boy just got bored with BF at almost seven months, and they had to stop.
