I am nearly 16 weeks pregnant and I've just noticed that my dog follows me everywhere, he wont lay still if I am walking around the house or doing anything, I am sure if he could get in my pocket he would.... has anyone else noticed a difference in their pet's behaviour since being pregnant, I am curious as to whether their sense it that good.
He is a very protective dog (not of just me but the whole family and the rest of the pets and not at all jealous) so I just wonder if he knows that he has another one to look after now!

be nice to hear from anyone else ....

Awww i recon they can sense this kinda stuff, when i had a dog he was also very protective & when ever i got ill & was in bed all day he used to always stay by myside, & when ever i was crying he used to always come up to me as if he was comforting me.
Dont have a dog anymore even though would love one, so cant comment on the pregnancy thing but i do think dogs are sensative and can just tell when things are changing x

My big dog likes to try and lie across me and be protective which would be great if he didn't weight a tonne!!

i think it's jelousy...my cat's the same shes always sleeping on me normally on my tummy trys to get under my quilt it's soo annoying lol...when my sister was pregnant my sisters cat was the same she was a really good cat untill my sis got so far along and then she used too sent on her bed :( xx

Yes, they sence and smell when we are PG. Mine haven't left my side since I got pregnant, they are always laying beside me with their heads on my bump :)

The only changes I noticed in my dog is that normally he is so nice and friendly to every animal and human.
Lately, when I take him out on walks at night he will growl at people who pass by.
It's so strange as he never does that, it's one of the few times i've heard him growl.

Other than that he's pretty oblivious to much of what is going on around him because he is in his own lala land the majority of the time.

I'm not going mad then... so for whatever reason he is way more sensitive to my condition than my children! I hope it is preotective rather than jealousy cos its a heart warming feeling thinking that he's looking out for me :)

Bethancloe, I feel for you, if Yogi could lay on my lap I would surely come of worst as he weighs loads too!

I know!! When he's sitting on me the other one is trying to climb on top of him!! Poor baby's gonna get crushed !!

My cat lays next to me seems to stretch out his paws and place them on my bump all the time and follows me everywhere!

my dog follows me about everywhere and sulks if i leave her at home...she is virtually in my pocket at all times (or shoud i say ucked inside my dressing gown with me lol) x x

My dogs know im pretty sure they sense change will be coming! My little girl will have 5 doggies to play with and protect her from strangers thats for sure lol.

Yes they do sense pregnancy. It was really funny because just as I was reading your post, my dog squished himself against me in the tiniest spot on the settee awwwww.

I think my 12 week old pup did that the other night.... i've had him for six days or something and he has been nice to me, my mom, my dad, my OH, my friend Amy, and came from a home with a husband and a wife and kids and has been mellow and nice to all (he is a labrador ) and, on a walk randomly like two nights ago i was walking him and a neighbor from up hill approached from a distance and struck up conv. it was in the later evening and so he tried calling him to him like to greet him and at first he jet over toward that direction so i was in my head like, ok he's loving everyone and that was ok for me and , then he began barking and growled some......never seen that reaction so far w him! and the guy talked more and sat down on the curb and tried to coax him and he stood firmly next to me and at first tried running me and him down the hill away and i stood where i was and he looked back at me like hello lets go! and i didn't move and kept talking to the neighbor and he ran back to my side and laid down and then sat and put his paw on my foot and stared at the guy not wagging or like hey pet me or anything just eye-ing him and the guy got closer and let him sniff him and he sniffed and mildly wagged his tail and backed up again next to me and never really warmed up to the guy and i was like aww he is protective lol never seen a puppy do that more, like my older dog i had before Dodger, he was protective....lol...so i am guessing maybe he senses it too that i'm preg. and he is protective? lol

I used to think my dog followed me around because I'm home with him all day but he really is attached to me all the time. We are 9 weeks apart (I'm 25 weeks pregnant so he's 34 weeks old). I got him because I thought we'd never get pregnant after all our troubles and then, BAM, I got pregnant! I can't wait to see how he acts when the baby is here, if he is still very attached to me. My cat loves to snuggle on my stomach. She's definitely more affectionate as well.

My cat has gone ballistic since my pregnancy!!! First, she will not leave my side at all. Then from she was a kitten she only eats dry cat food. She could be starving and she will not eat anything else not even milk or cheese. Well lately she only eats what and when I eat! She's driving me crazy cause she actually tries to take food out of mouth!!!! She doesn't even go to her bowl anymore.
