Hi ladies,

Random question, I am currently 6+4 and I noted from some research that we shouldn't do things like wash the bathroom because of fumes from the chemical that could affect the foetus. How do you get around this?

Get toxin free stuff from supermarket?

Or ventilate bathroom etc when cleaning?

Really? I could use this to my advantage and get my husband to do it, oh wait what was that no washing pots either lol

I feel bad cause around 5 weeks I helped sister do final clean on apartment. bleach/ajax/bowl cleaner/...no gloves no window or fan in bathroom. I am sure many woman do it as a daily thing job wise and are ok.

I got husband doing litter and coming to shopping trips for the heavy items as my back is crappy.

I've never changed what I use for any pregnancy, just always make sure the area is vented and wash hands after, use gloves if the stuff is harsh.

Unless it's really strong fumes to the point you feel ill yourself, I wouldn't worry. As others have said, just make sure you open a window and maybe don't use as much cleaning product.

Didn't even realised fumes from cleaning sprays were a no no in pregnancy I used them as normal with my 1st and have used them so far in this pregnancy.

It's probably ok. If you have a bathroom fan, I would just turn that on while cleaning or open the windows. Personally, I just use it as an opportunity to make my husband do it ;)

Use proper cleaning products, gloves, open window, wash hands, dont snort.

I'm pretty sure I didn't change my habits when I was expecting my son. I helped my sister by cleaning for her earlier on in this pregnancy but I always make sure I don't stay around strong fumes and wash my hands after. I think there are so many scare stories out there, esp lately with the new report in the UK, it's hard to know what to trust.

Ive never changed any products ect. Oprning windows though eould prob help xx

Last time I avoided cleaning the oven (what a shame) and by the time I was 8 months refused to vacuum the stairs after almost falling down a few times. Everything else stayed the same.

Thank you ladies! Was about nervous as we don't gavea window in our bathroom but seems like a number of you were just fine! Thanks for sharing.

I'll put a fan inand make sure it is well ventilated

We recently moved and had to do a final cleaning. The only thing that I took no part in was cleaning the oven. I had DH do that because of the strong fumes. For the bathroom I was able to just turn on the fan and open the windows.

We use Bicarb, Lemon, Vinegar and Teatree oil for cleaning just about anything! Never changed on my last pregnancy wont be changing this time
