hi all,

ive seen this question before but didnt actually remember seeing any definitive answer.

My due date by ovulation is 27th October, but by scans etc they worked it out to be 2nd November.

is the ovulation due date more accurate??

Depends if you know exactly when you ovulate and how long your cycles are.

They say the margin of error is about a week, so your margin of error is 5 days, so I don't think it really matters!

not really unless you know 100% when you ovulated...

It is useful to remember that though since once you go overdue they start taking the official due date as fact when there is a margin of error. According to scans my edd was 29th August but by ovulation I made it 31st August, so although officially I am 40+6 I make it 40+4 which ridiculously does make a difference when medical policies are obsessed with the idea that no pregnancy should go beyond 42 weeks regardless of baby's condition. Its all a silly numbers game!

well i was using the Clear Blue fertility monitor which tells you your ovulation days from peeing on a stick, so i would say its pretty certain when i ovulated..?

But pregnancy isn;t from the date of ovulation because actual implantation can vary massively between woman to woman. It isn;t an exact Science any way it is dated as it is impossible. So I think they use the scan to date by measurements as that is the most accurate for them.

I have no idea about my ovulation date but I do have 28 day cycles and my LMP and Scan dates match :)

Both my daughters arrived on the due dates going by lmp and not ovulation nor the scan dates I was given.

This time round scan has given me the 6th/7th Oct as my due date and by ovulation it would be the 8th by lmp it would be the 2nd. x
