Early miscarriage? Sorry its long I need advice xxxx

I don't know where to post this.. I just needed it posting somewhere so I can get some advice. For those who know me, I'm sorry I haven't mentioned this but I have been waiting for the right time and for something a bit more concrete before discussing it (You all know my situation with my bf.. that I have been seeing him again and yep, *tut tut*, I'm daft, so its not something I wanted to brag about)..

right, anyway.. I was on Micronor contraceptive pill for about 2 years. For the last year my periods have been quite irregular, sometimes I miss a month/2 months etc. I was diagnosed with cervical errosion at the end of last year so I have always had a bit of a strange blood thing going on (sometimes I bleed after sex). This seems to have stopped recently tho. My last period was 15th of june but due to my irregularity and my constant pregnancy test checks, I have been quite assured that I am not pregnant throughout. I split with my boyfriend on 16th July so I stopped taking my pill. On 27th August, we got back together.. we had sex, and I started talking my pill again. Due to the risk I did a pregnancy test on saturday and it was positive. I would have conceived 3 weeks ago!! I made an apt with the doc and he tested my urine infront of me which once again gave a positive test, plus he sent the urine off to be tested. Due to the fact that I told him I only conceived 3 weeks ago he stated that it was very early for a positive result to show up on a preg test, and when I explained that I hadn't had a period since June, he made an apt at the clinic for the following day so I could have a scan to check how pregnant I actually was.

Tuesday morning I rang up the docs for my results and the test came back positive. So thats 3 positive tests. I went to my apt at the clinic where I was scanned. I explained that I could only have conceived 3 weeks ago or 10 weeks ago as the time inbetween I was not having sex. She also expressed her concerns about if I was only 3 weeks the pregnancy tests would very unlikey be positive. I explained that I had done a test no more than a month ago and it was negative so no way could I be 10 week pregnant!! The scan didn't show anything. The lining looked thick but there was no embryo. She even gave me an examination but still didnt find anything at all. She sent me home with an appointment for next Monday for another scan. She made me aware that it was either too early to see anything and maybe my tests were just very sensitive to pick up the pregnancy so early, or if I start to get certain symptoms to go back up as it could be ectopic.

Since tuesday I have had spotting. Brown blood. Not heavy, just slight. I told her this and she said if it gets worse to go back. By wednesday, my urine was brown and I had a bit of red blood when I wipe. I went to bed that night (last night) and my arms and legs felt really heavy, almost numb. I woke this morning with really heavy period cramps. Not sharp pains or anything, just cramps. My thighs are still slightly numb. I googled this and it triggered ectopic pregnancy so I have just been to A&E. They did a blood test and tested a urine sample. I am bleeding but not heavy. I am wearing a pad (sorry all this is TMI) and there are a few brown spots and a bit of red blood but not heavy BUT everytime I go to the toilet, my urine has red blood in (a lot) and when I wipe its just pure red blood. They tested my urine and said that my pregnancy test from today is NEGATIVE!! Now surely even if I was miscarrying, the test would still be positive atm so what do you think is happening???

I have just made an appointment at my own doctors for this afternoon as he is the one that gave me 2 out of the 3 positives but Im just after some advice really as to what you ladies think?? I have just wiped and had quite a big clot! Could this still be an ectopic and they just haven't checked? or would my blood test have shown if it was that!! Am I miscarrying? why would 3 tests be positive (1 on saturday and 2 on monday) and now the hospital are saying my urine is negative??? Maybe Im bleeding and losing the baby due to my cervical erosion? But why is the test saying I am not pregnant already??!!

I'm going to the chemist now to buy a test to do myself b4 my appointment!!

Any advice would be glady appreciated!! Thank you in advance xxxx

Just been up the chemist and picked up a test and the line, although faint, is defo there :/
Its fainter than it was on saturdays test however!!!

You could be having a mc, it does sound like it but until you pass the tissue or have a scan you're not really going to know for sure.

How heavy is the bleeding? Like how long is it taking to fill a pad? Is the bleeding more when you go the toilet (so pushing down if that makes sense)?
When I was MC, my pad only had a bit on it but when I went the toilet it was awful, the amount of blood that was there. Both times, it took me two days of bleeding to pass the actual baby (or tissue as the hospital called it to me)

I think the hospital would of asked you the right questions for them to not think it was a ectopic.

Truthfully the best thing you can do is lie down, make sure someone is there with you, please don't be on your own. Keep checking when you go the toilet. If the bleeding is so bad its worrying you, normally they say filling a pad in 2 hours but with me it was just the amount of blood in the toilet or if the pain is unbearable then get yourself into A&E.

I really wish I lived closer because I'd come round and sit with you xxx

I'm not sure a scan would pick it up anyway as they couldnt see anything in the first place?

The blood is not heavily flowing out, only spotting on the pad but when I wee, its coming out in quite thick tringy clumps and when I wipe theres blood (a lot of). My urine is FULL of blood too so the toilet doesnt look a pretty sight. So yes, I suppose if I push down the blood comes, otherwise it doesn't. My mum had to go to work so Im alone atm.. Ive got the docs and then Ive gotta pick Amelia up at 3.15 and I dont really have anyone to ask to get her. I feel ok.. I have only slight period cramps now and as I say, my pad is not getting filled, its only when I go to the toilet

I'll see what my doc says.. Ive just text one of the mums from school and she has offered to pick amelia up if need be. How long after a m/c is it before a test shows negative? I just don't understand how 3 tests can be positive, then the hospital one today negative and my own, only slightly a line???!!!

I only know what it was like for me sorry hun but when I started bleeding, it was just a bit of spotting and the hospital did a test which was positive. I didn't test again until a week after and that showed negative.

I thought it would still be positive atm, especially the one tested at the hospital!! The test that I bought just after is still showing a faint line!!! Its all very strange. Thanks very much babe. I've heard people say on here that the tests they get at the hospital or drs aren't as sensitive as some hpts

I'm happily laughing at threads and getting on with my day.. until I go to the toilet and see Shock maybe. Its all been pretty fast a I only found out on saturday. The doc was a bit confused as to whats going on too!! He knows my results were positive because he tested me! He said to just monitor my blood loss and see how I go. He didn't take another sample or anything, just told me to wait a few days and see! I have an apt at the clinic on Monday anyway for another scan so I assume by monday if I'm no longer preg, it will be clearer to detect rather than now.. as my test is still showing positive Is that normal for them to send u away knowing that you could be having a m/c? I suppose theres nothing else they can do about it tho is there!! time for a drink!! thanks scamp/sarah xx

I'm sorry you're going through this hun.. I miscarried in May..and I might have a blighted ovum this time around.

If you suspect you have an ectopic pregnancy you should tell your doctor and they should perform an ultrasound to find where the egg implanted. I'm not sure why you have 3 positives and the hospitals came back negative...

But to me it sounds like you are miscarrying.. since you are passing clots and bleeding red...

One more thing - Please request a blood test if you haven't done that already. Blood work will not be wrong and it will give the doctor a better idea of what type of pregnancy you have.

I was told on tuesday that an ectopic preg could be possible and given a leaflet to read of symptoms to look out for. I noticed I had 1 or 2 but then I had the numb feeling in my arms and legs thru the night so as soon as I woke I googled numbness + ectopic preg and quite a few links came up as it being a symptom. This prompted me to go to hospital. If it was just the bleeding I would have probably waited. The 'lovely' nurse told me that numbness is not a sign and that its unrelated??!!! So why does google say otherwise!! Overall my experience at hosp today has been pretty poor. I am none the wiser now than I was this morning!!!

The hospital gave me a blood test today (she said to make sure I hadn't lost too much blood) but I was sent home as soon as they tested my urine as negative I'm sure they wouldn't have been able to test my blood that fast (maybe 30-45 mins) They may phone me if anything abnormal or unusual is detected Im hoping??!!

An update from me.. woke this morning and my first wee of the day was prob half and half blood??!! but it was mainly what had settled over the night cuz as the day has gone on the blood has got less and less! I feel fine in myself I just feel worried as I don't know whats going on and I don't even know if I'm preg or not! I have 1 last test and am tempted to do it but I think I should wait till monday before I go back to the clinic?

I have had a lot of time to think.. I'm worried that this is all because of my cervical erosion. I know this wasn't a planned pregnancy but none the less, what if I have a problem.. Also the more I read, the more worried I am because its almost impossible to have a positive pregnancy test and 2 days later it be negative (especially with my odds of having 3 positive tests from 3 different sources).. scared! What if I have major issues going on!!!!!! Even if I have miscarried, it would take 2-3, sometimes 6 weeks for the test to read negative

It might just be that the hospital test wasn't strong enough, yours was still faint.

I know it's easy to say but try not to worry. I'd give it a few more days and go back the drs.
Do what you want to though, if you get worried or think there is too much blood, go A&E.

you really early hun. i had loads of poditives even at the doctors then went to hospital and had a negative it all depends how dialtue your urine is. are you going back to the clinic?

Pinkish_Angel, sorry that you are going through a trying time, not knowing and worrying.

From your description, it does sound like you are going through a miscarriage. When the doctor examined you, was it internal? It can trigger you to bleed, especially if you have been spotting earlier.

HCG can go downwards rather quickly if it is an early pregnancy. Maybe you can request for Beta HCG count tomorrow when you see the doctor. Hopefully the scan will reveal more.

sending you hugs, hope you get some answers. I tested 10 days ago (digi) BFP had abdominal pains since before test. Went for scan yesterday, no baby and neg urine test. No bleeding and still got pains. I'm very confused
