I've heard that crab is a big no no during pregancy. Should it be avoided even if it's cooked? What about imitation crab meat?

Its the same as Prawns...Cook it thoroughly!

Pretty much nothing is off limits as long as its cooked thoroughly. No bugs can surive, which equals not a hope in getting ill.

phew im glad for that reply!! i had crab cakes the other day lol x

I looked at prawns the other day and the advice was conflicting.. Some said no some said yes others said yes as long as they're cooked and part of a hot meal?!? What about prawn cocktail?!? Prawns are cooked when they're in a chiller but how long have they been there for and they're not part of a cooked meal!!! Aaaaargghh... All this confliction!!

if im told yes AND no on a food i tend to try avoid it just to be on the safe side x

I think that's the most frustrating thing about being pregnant. Every source has conflicting information. In the US they tell us not to eat deli meats, in the UK they're told it's ok to eat deli meats. Crab is ok when it's cooked, but it has to be served hot, if it's cold it's a no no. I'm so confused! For thanksgiving I'm making a roasted ham, but am I allowed to eat cold ham sandwiches the next day? I don't know!
