Just a quick question. I've had this niggly tugging or pressure type feeling in the left side. Don't know if im constantly aware of it cos im paranoid, but im worried it could be ectopic. How can you tell if it is one other than going for a scan. x

I had this for about four days and was worried about ectopic too, but had an early scan and everything was fine. I think if it's ectopic (which is very rare - about 2 per cent of pregnancies or something) it's REALLY painful and you get bleeding too. But if you're worried, contact your doctor. Good luck. I'm sure you'll be fine. x

well wen i was in hospital as the doctor on the phone thought it could be ectopic they told me in the hospital i would be literally doubled over in pain especially with being 6 weeks like you are i was only 4 weeks and they said i would be sorry cant be much help cant you call you epu i still get tugging its your ligaments i had them with my first to xx

Hi ks1977 I think that if it's ectopic pregnancy then the pain is quite severe? Also I knw that shoulder pain on the same side is a sign.

Try not to worry hun, I'm now 9 wks gone, but until last week I was getting a constant pain in my right side, low down. My midwife said it is just general stretching of the uterus. Is this your first baby? It's my 5th, but she says it can be worse with a first pregnancy. Hope this helps? If you are really worried, maybe give NHS direct a call?

xxx

had an ectopic pregnancy but it didnt rupture till I was 12 weeks, it was literally the day before my scan. I didnt have a clue until I collapse at home with my kids. It was the worst pain imaginable, I nearly died and I spent a week in hospital with it. If you are worried you need to either ring your local epu or Gp and tell them you are worried. If you get any one sided pain just go striaght to A+E. It is really serious. I hope your not ectopic xxx

Hey, I had that type of feeling too, and still do. Had it on both sides, it wasnt painful it was just there and slightly uncomfortable. I was convinced it was an ectopic pregnancy, and I even had a similar tugging feeling on my arm and shoulder. Had my scan 2 days ago though and everything is okay. Guess I was worrying for nothing. I told my doctor about it before my scan and she said its probably stretching pains and not to be too concerned unless my pee stinged, and my arm she thought I'd probably pulled a muscle somewhere near my arm. I'd say if you're really worried get it checked out by your gp, but to not worry about it as it might just be nothing! I wasted so much time worrying and the baby was in the right place the whole time.

Aw thanks guys,

These stories are reassuring. Zoella - yes this if my first. Thank you for letting me know what you have been feeling. Suppose I'm just being too panicky. I'll tell the doc when they ring me on Monday. x

I've had these sorts of pains in right side for days now, been to dr's twice but they just said they think its stretching pains and to go back if it gets worse. I'm worried sick about it but dr doesn't seem bothered so i'll just have to keep a eye on it xxx

Thanks Berniep

I see you are around the same time as me....maybe it's just a growing stretching thing like you say. It's soo uncomfortable and annoying. I have found tonight that if I lean or lay on the side it hurts ( I say hurt...more like a tugging as though someone is squeezing), it stops it happening. So maybe it is just the pg stretching/wind x

KS, ectopic pregnancies usually occurs at women age over 35, that have previous problems with the reproductive sistem, esp. fallopian tubes, smoking etc.
just the thought is driving anyone mad, so drop it.

Oh sorry, have I said something wrong? I wish it was as easy to just 'drop it'. I am concerned like a lot of women on here are with aches etc. :(

It's for your own good if you take this ideea out of your head now. Trust your doctor and MW and it will be fine.

abdominal pain, bleeding, hcg not rising, excessive sickness

Thank you winegums,

Your response is much appreciated. I am new to this and am just looking for some answers to my queries. x:flower:

It's early days for me and I am asking the question as I would like to know, and having people tell me to drop it isn't helping. If I want to post threads on my worries, etc, I am entitled to. I found your response quite abrupt if I'm honest.

Thanks anyway

that's ok hun! though ectopics are rare they can be extremely serious if left untreated. if you have any doubts whatsoever i would contact your doctor and they can test your hormone levels or give you a scan or something. i know it doesn't help people saying 'drop it' because they might give that advice to someone who actually does have an ectopic

Very true indeed. Thanks again hun :flower::flower:

1. the HCG isn;t a guarantee coz they can rise and than fell very quick, but the doctors will take only 2 measures
2. ectopic pregnancy have THE SAME simptoms as normal ones just the fact that you feel pain on one side(strong pain) and in the shoulders and maybe bleeding but all these depends
3. it would be great if we could do a scan anytime we say to the doctor that we are suspicious about something.................
4. you can have in the same time both ectopic and normal pregnancy
5. Need I say more?

I've just been to hospital as NHS direct thought I had a possible case of ectopic pregnancy. It happens after a few weeks from conception, for example week 7, which is what I am. You have bad abdominal pain going into the back and shoulder, often referred pain to another part of the body (which I'm experiencing) dizziness, vomiting, bleeding, cold clammy skin. Not sure what I've got but I have bad abdominal pain when I breath or move for the last three days, shoulder pain too but he thinks it's something else. Going for my EP scan anyway tomorrow so we'll know more then, fingers crossed it's trapped wind or something and not an ectopic.

What you describe is round ligament pain which is very common, in my last pregnancy I was convinced that bean was in the wrong place but actually it's them making themselves comfortable and your uterus stretching so it's a good sign your expanding down there. If you do get worried though best phone NHS they can confirm it for you quite quickly with questions.

Actually that's completely wrong to be blunt! And maybe a little rude....
