I accidentally gave myself an electric shock by putting my hand in a light bulb socket which I didn't realise was on (stupid, I know). I called the midwife who called the hospital and they said that a shock like that shouldn't do any harm to the baby and I just need to keep an eye on movements. Everything I read online is so scary, all about spontaneous miscarriage or stillbirth. I can still feel baby moving but I also read that the effects can take place several days afterwards. I am so upset and worried. I don't think there is anything much I can do but just wondered if anyone had any advice or experience? I don't even know how powerful normal household electricity is. The shock didn't throw me backwards or leave any mark but it was well over an hour ago and I can still feel an ache in my hand and arm where I got shocked

Awww hun how scary! I'm sure the hospital would have called you in for a check up if it was potentially serious. Some of the stuff you read online is so worrying but usually its only the bad things you find online. I had to stop myself when I first got pregnant as it was really winding me up.

Hope your hand feels better soon!

I would go to labor and delivery and have them monitor the baby for a little while. leave Dr. Google alone, just makes you more anxious and nervous in the end. plus theres always that one person that starts off a post with" not trying to scare you but..." and then u really end up freaking out. if baby is moving around im sure the baby is fine, but if you don't want to go in, keep an eye out on the movements and go in or call if u notice a decrease in movement. keeping you and baby in my prayers! xx

Thanks, I did call them but they told me they didn't need to see me :( I think I will call again tomorrow if I still feel worried. Apparently there is an outbreak of norovirus at our local hospital which has spread to L&D so I guess they don't want people to go in unless really necessary.

yes - that is one of the things you have to take into consideration.... getting stuff from the hospital itself.
Oh how scarry :hugs: I have no experience or advise other than trust your doctor. They said to montor movements and that is all you can do. If you can't feel baby move call them back. You don't want to get sick from going in when you didn't really need to. I will keep you in my prayers!
