Hello Ladies! Well, I have recently been told that I have Endo so I did some research (and haven't finished yet). But, I did read about a gluten free diet and a different Endometriosis Diet. I have also heard that there are ways to help boost fertility.

So, I am starting this post in hopes that we can help eachother out. I was hoping that we could post fertility dieting tips and recipes on here for each other...

This site had some good info...

Another good article:
https://www.everydayhealth.com/womens-health/essentials-of-endometriosis-diet.aspx

Foods to avoid:

Any takers?

Good post!
I was diagnosed with endo not too long ago and before that Celiac disease - so for me the gluten connection is a definite.
I have not tried cutting out dairy fully but have cut down.

Hi,

I was diagnosed with endo about 14 years ago. About 6 years ago I found a really good book about nutrition called 'Endometriosis - A key to healing through nutrition' by Dian Shepperson Mills and Michael Vernon.
It is a really interesting read with lots of good pointers. :coffee:

If you are in the UK you used to be able to also book an appointment with Dian (I don't know if you still can). I booked an appointment - Dian was lovely and gave me a personalised diet plan with supplements. It did cost a bit in supplements and you felt like you were rattling with pills for the first month but the diet she suggested for me wasn't too bad to follow and I did notice a difference in my cycle (less pain and not as heavy).

Hope this helps :flower:

Well, I'm not in the UK, so I won't try to book an appointment, but I will definitely look into getting the book! Thanks!

I was told wheat and dairy can cause problems

Hi there girls
I also have endo and I also own that book. Funny enough I advised someone with endo about how to eat according to that book: cut out wheat and sugar etc and this girl who had actually given up on getting pregnant got pregnant shortly after starting the diet. As for myself I am just now planning to try endo diets. This week I will have a gluten and lactose intolerance test and I actually hope that they will find out I have an intolerance because then I could do something about it and hopefully get pregnant.
Best wishes to all of you and thank you for the link,
Amber

I read that meat (with the except of fish), diary, sugar, soy, and wheat can cause inflammation. I've only followed the diet for 2 wks at a time but both times my cycle was several days longer (went from 24 dys to 25-7), it was lighter, and I had no cramping at all. Incredible. You'd think I'd stick to it but no..I just love sugar. I'm on day 3 of eating following the diet again hoping for a bfp.

I also read that list of foods should be avoided. I have been on the diet for 3 days now and I find it hard. Gosh, what do you eat? guys My problem is not so much the diet but the fact that I get too skinny. My BMI is 17 :( I really believe in diets (The PCO-diet also made an amazing impact on my hormones) The problem is as soon as I cut out "empty calories" I start loosing weight. If anyone of you could give me some ideas about what to eat. Like what to eat on bread too. My book about endo-diet is in another country and I can't get to it.
Best wishes and thank you for the inspiration Constance. How amazing it would be to be pain free. Just today I had to stay home from work because I had period pain during the night

This is me. I dropped 10lbs in 2 wks eating only "approved" foods. At some point I have to have toast and butter or something like that (empty calories) otherwise I'll just float away. I need to actually cook the recipes in the endo cookbook but sometimes the idea of cauliflower or broccoli as a main entree just does not do it for me.

Do anyone of you girls who have cut out gluten notice a bloat when you eat gluten? May not be immediate but the next day?

I find it pretty easy to eat gluten free at home - restaurants are more of a problem. I try to go to ones that have a gluten free menu.
Once you get used to looking at labels and going to the gluten free section in the supermarket it is pretty easy. I eat fewer cookies/cakes than before but I have found brands that taste good gluten free and use them as a treat. Gluten free is more expensive for pastries. I try to substitute less and eat more natural gluten free foods like quinoa, potatoes, rice, lentils etc. Now that it is fall I am making lots of soups:flower:

I'm back on carbs and sugar(!) but plan to reign things in today. Willpower...

i have endo and i am sedueled for my seccond LAP this year so i decided 8 weeks ago i cut out ;
red meat
dairy
wheat
caffeen
gluten
also soya although it is an alternantive for dairy soya has been noted as also being a cause for endo so keep away from soya altho some dairy free products have small amounts of soya which should be fine,
i found the best substitue for milk is coconut milk with added calcium and there is a cream alternative made from oats.

but i have noticed i think i may have low iron i have been suffering with palpetations and very tired so i have found some folic acid that also contains the rda of iron so i hope it makes a difference.

there are so many alternatives now to help cut these things out such as wheat free pasta and bread its just hard to get hold of sometimes.

Wanabe. I am just curious: do you feel different now after being on such a strict diet for 8 weeks? Have you felt any changes?

I kinda gave up on the diet last weekend since I was attending a course all weekend and it was busy and I got really hungry and ... hmm I gave up.
But I am still thinking about trying again, especially I am interested in the Gluten Free diet

I read an interesting study. They put a bunch of kids with ADHD on a gluten and dairy free diet for 5 weeks and 3/4th of the kids became "normal" as long as they followed the diet. Amazing huh. I know it does not have something to do with endo but it does show the power that eating the wrong food can have.

I'd like to put one (or more) of my students on the diet if it calms them down! :haha: (I teach kindergarten)

Thats is interesting about the study, as I have Celiacs and often felt hungry - especially at school as could not snack - which can affect attention and other things. Also in general, poor quality foods will not give much nutritional value which can have an effect as well on children.

I do feel very different AF was very light and almost pain free and the rest of the time I don't feel bloated, heavy or have tummy ache it's just the palpitations and tiredness but I started an iron supplement so I'm hoping it helps :)

Wow the study about the ADHD kids is amazing it just goes to show what power food has on your body.

Can you give some examples of what you eat. Like what are your main meals during the day.
Am a bit upset with myself; just went and bought a few gluten free products and quinoa and now I am sitting here eating a bag of fat Doritos which are full of bad stuff as well as milk powder;/
Really would like to be on the diet but its soooo hard to get my act together.

Well I've been having bran flakes with coconut milk or fruit for breakfast for lunch I would have mixed bean soup or veg soup with some wheat free toast or bread or sandwich for snacks normal chrisps eg walkers or ones made just from potatoe dairy free cake or biscuits and evening meals lots or rice fresh fish or chicken lots of veg and spinach or wheat free pasta, I also buy decaff coffee and lots of fruit juice.

I have gluten intolerance and follow a gluten free diet. I get really sick if I have gluten, so I follow the diet religiously.
After I was diagnosed and started the GF diet my endo symptoms got a lot better. My hubby and I are still ttc, no luck yet.
