Endometritis/uterine infection

wondered if anyone had/has had this? I gave birth a week ago and developed it yesterday. Ive not managed to come across any threads on it but though it was fairly common after c-section.

If you have had it would love some advice on what tests they did (if any) and your treatment. My GP had given me Amoxicillin but feel worse and looking on internet looks like other drugs are more commonly used.

Evening, I had this 5 days after I had my little girl.

I was put on erythromyacin and metranidazole for 1 day but was admitted the next day and spent 5 days in ICU. I was given clindamyacin (4 times a day by IV), ciprofloxacin (2 times a day orally) and one bout of gentamicin (was not responding to antibiotics) through IV. I was then released and continued on oral form of clindamyacin and ciprofloxacin for 9 days.

Tests run were FBC, blood cultures, general obs of BP, pulse and temperature, uterine scan, kidney scan, ECG.

The ideal treatment is a form of penicillin so amoxycillin is a good starting block. If you have any questions, PM me, I can give you lots of detail.

Thanks - crikey you went through the wars. Midwife thinks i might need 7 day course of antibiotics which in comparison to your ordeal is nothing,

Hopefully the antis will work! Just keep an eye on your temperature, I hope you feel better soon. Oh and take paracetamol for any pain. xxx
