engorgement

LO is sleeping much longer at night now, going to bed at 8 and usually waking around 5 for a feed. I'm not complaining, it's great, but my boobs are so sore! This morning he didn't wake until 6 but I was up long before cos I was so uncomfortable. Even after feeding him I'm still quite full and sore. I don't want to express any off cos that will just make me produce more won't it? Will this settle down or is it always going to be uncomfortable at night?

Wish mine would sleep from 8 til 5 !!!!

It should settle down i think. My LO started sleeping longer and i was finding myself having to pump the excess off at about 3am so i could sleep! Now she's sleeping for up to 12 hours, and although i'm still very full when i wake up it's much less painful, so i think my body is adjusting. I just used to pump about 1oz off each boob to take the pressure off a bit.x

It'll settle down. I dealt with it by hand expressing just enough to make me more comfortable until my supply adjusted. If you do this, it is very important to express a very little amount, otherwise your supply won't adjust.
