if you had one-how long did it take for your episiotomy to heal? and when did you start having sex again?

Hi there, I had one with my first and it took about 3 weeks to heal as they had put the stitches in too tight....ouch !! xxx

Took three weeks for all the stitches to heal just right at the bottom of my bum was the longest. We had sex after 4 weeks. Main reason was because I was just so tired!
It does feel like the first time again and everything is all slow, I couldn't relax but after a few times my moo moo was worn back in !

it seems to hurt most at the back. Did you put anything on it or just let it heal by itself? I was thinking of buying some ointments ... My man is already asking me when i'll be ready. If i didn't have episiotomy i'd be ready now :D
Lol, hawalkden, moo moo :D i bet it feels very intense for the first time :} I hope i heal quickly. It's been just 4 days so far but i'm so impatient to get things back to normal!

i used lavendar oil in my bath everyday for at least 2 weeks to help it heal and that seemed to work

I might try the oil as well then :) thanks

I had one with my second daughter 17 odd stitches, the healing process didnt take too long but sex oh boy i was so paranoid, didnt dtd for 3 months!!

Does anyone know if you have it done once are you more inclined to have it happen again??

Mine got infected so took about 6 weeks to heal properly. Was not at all pleasant and not looking forward to the next birth. From what I've read you're more likely to tear in the same place as your episiotomy on the next birth.. I shall find out in June!

i had an episiotomy the first time with forceps. The second time i didn't want any intervention, i gave birth naturally and had a small tear, i didn't even feel any pain from it. After I was stitched I did not feel pain or have swelling compared to my episiotomy which took 2 weeks to heal and was very sore and swollen.

I had one with my 1st - felt fine after had sex 2 or 3 weeks after! and with my 2nd had a small tear with stiches and again feels fine but haven't had sex yet as i'm too tired! :haha:

Mine took about 2wks to heal and we :sex: at around 6-8wks. Was a bit sore but nowhere near as bad as I'd imagined :)

The only problem with me was her head just wasnt going to come out, but no forceps were used, once they cut me, I gave one push & she was out, but my goodness whem they were stitching me up it hurt so so bad, regardless of anasthetic.
