Essential clothing items for winter newborns?

Thank you so much for all the advice, and especially for the adorable winter baby pictures! So sweet. My kids were about 6-7+ months during winter so were more mobile and did wear different things to what I imagine a newborn would be in.

rwhite those lamington socks are so cool! I might get some for my big kids too for winter.

Merino seems to be the best and has been recommended to me by lots of people. I've bought some merino yarn off trademe to do some knitting.

I just gave ALL of Sophies clothes away a few weeks ago to a charity pregnancy centre, I had all of her clothing from newborn to size 2, and wish I had kept some bits and bobs now.
