Evening Primrose??

I read on some sites that you can insert an evening primrose capsule into your fufu after piercing it with a sterile needle to help soften the cervix, how true is this? I really dont want to go overdue because I've had a previous section (and a vbac) there is more chance of me being induced or even having another section which im not too keen on

I have read it on google but I'm not 100 perc sure. I have read u can pop the capsule an rub the oil on ur perinium too x

Yeah I've just read that too. Says its a gradual thing that helps ripen the cervix... just not sure i'd like to out anything 'up there' if its not safe x

I used morning primrose oil from about 38-9 weeks last time. I inserted one every evening as I was going to bed. No need to pierce the capsule though, it melts with your body heat Just make sure you get it as high up as you can and be careful when you get up in the morning as left overs leak out Worked a charm for me, really ripened and softened up my cervix!

I'll be doing as soon as I'm 37 weeks this time! One orally in the morning, one vaginally in the evening

I've read a few threads on here where women say they've tried it with good results.

I've been inserting a capsule vaginally for the last few nights. I don't pierce it though.. I think it just dissolves itself? Does anyone know?

yep this is true, the best time to do it is at night time with a pad on so that any excess can be caught.
also it needs to be inserted quite high up preferably behind the cervix so that it can help it as much as possible.
also star flower oil is good to use.
try not to put one in the night before an appointment though jsut incase they want to check you. sometimes if the capsule hasnt dissolved properly it can linger around, dont think the midwife/doctor will want it coming out on their fingers lol. xx

I've been using it for the last week or so. I insert in vaginally and I do prick it (probably not necessary but I figure it speeds things up). I don't know for sure that its working but at the last appointment I have begun to dilate and efface.

I realised my EPO was out of date when I fished it out of the cupboard so I must go and get some more today
