I learned today that my gyno would like me to see a fertility specialist about getting pregnant due to some lab results showing very low AMH.

I am 35 years old...it looks like my AMH levels came back at just .26 which is scaring me a lot.

Have any of you had success with IVF or can you share your experience whether positive or not?

FWIW, my FSH is at 8.4 and Estradiol at 28 which I understand to be generally incongruous..meanting with an AMH as low as mine you'd expect elevated FSH.

I'm just so emotional about it....I see a doctor on Monday but would greatly appreciate hearing your stories. It's ok if they are not all sunshine and rainbows.

My best to you and thanks in advance to anyone who sees this and feels like sharing.

My AMH was checked in 2013 when I was 28, and my level back then was 0.64 (I never had it checked again after that). During my first round of IVF (with ICSI), I had 5 eggs retrieved, and 4 fertilized and made it to day 5. My fresh transfer of two top grade embryos didn't take, so we did another round of IVF with ICSI and did genetic testing on the fresh embryos as well as the 2 remaining frozen ones. That second IVF cycle yielded 6 eggs. All 6 eggs fertilized, and 4 of them made it to day 5. My only ever BFP came from the frozen embryo transfer from that cycle (we opted against a fresh transfer the second time around).

I'm sorry to hear that your AMH is low. When I got my AMH results, my doctor said that she just had a patient that got pregnant with an AMH under 0.2, so it's definitely not impossible. Good luck! :hugs:

Thank you. I'm going to give it everything I've got. I have to go into this knowing it may be a challenge and there's a chance it won't work out, but that it's not completely hopeless. There is so much I don't know about what the different levels mean and what kind of options there are.

Be sure to talk to your doctor to see if there's anything that can be recommended to help you (supplements, diet, lifestyle). Some people have found that acupuncture can be beneficial for helping with certain fertility issues as well. Best of luck! :hugs:

Amh doesn't determine the quality of your eggs, just the quantity. With age on your side there's definitely hope! I got pregnant and delivered a healthy baby boy with less that .2 Amh when I was 31. I was advised that exercise and a good high protein diet was important and also took co q 10 and dhea supplements 3 months before ivf. Best of luck!

Also, Amh can go up or down, it's a 3 month forecast of your ovarian reserve, meaning that some months you can have a better forecast than others. I did.
