hi all...still working through our issues breastfeeding and trying to make it work...:muaha:

i'm finding that baby is frequently falling asleep at the breast during the day...i let him rest a minute and try to rouse him to feed and he's zzzzzzzz....

then i take him off, put him in a bouncy seat or swing, and BOOM...within 5 minutes he's crying to eat again...5-10mins later he's asleep again and we're back in the cycle...

any thoughts?

Did you see this thread??

This is totally normal, and my son was a champ at it. He will grow out of it.

oh i thought i was the only one :( Layla does the same thing.... makes life difficult doesnt it..... :(

yea it's common, i think most have experienced it. theres lots of little things you can do, like shakin your boob gently or stroking the side of their face, just to wake them up a little so they'll remember to carry on feeding.

My baby was particualrly hard work when it came to this and for the first two weeks we didn't sleep! We ended up having to get a dummy because we just couldn't cope any more. I never wanted to give her a dummy but i'm glad i did and as she's getting older she's naturally weaning herself off it (though i do think i'll have to force her to complelty give it up).

thanks! i am on a bottle strike (see other thread about trying to wean him off top offs) and for the first 30 hrs he refused to take a paci from me. now, almost 72 hrs into it, he will take one from his dad at least! and this is from the kid who LOVES his paci. :baby:

i think part of it is that he just wants to nap boob in mouth. right now he's doing just that, i tried to rouse him to eat further and he pitched a fit until he was able to nurse himself to sleep again...:dohh:
