has anyone else had a false alarm and thought labour had started? I am due on monday and have had contractions for several weeks, my cervix has been soft since week 30. I lost part of my plug on monday and sincer wednesday I have had pretty constant period pain getting more painful each day.

woke up this morning at 3.45am with really bad pain, normally just wake to go to the loo but this was painful. went for a wee and the pain really seemed to continue. I then went for a clearout (sorry tmi) and by this time the pain had subsided. I laid in bed tried to go back to sleep when another painful contraction came and passed. At this point I was wide awake and headed downstairs to start noting times. The contractions were so painful and really took my breath I thought it had to be it. I observed over the next hour several contractions between 9 and 15 mins apart but gradually they got more eratic and shorter and then less painful. I finally decided nothing was happening and took myself back to bed at 6am feeling deflated!

does this mean that real labour is not far off?

I imagine you wont have too long to wait, but also its very frustrating to think its happening just for it to stop. To be honest I'm abit clueless...never had a contraction.

I'm due tomorrow and nothing is happening for me yet!!

I had that last time and went into real labour th next day so there is hope.

Full moon.. Oh I'm gonna hope for us all tomorrow then

hi hun.
I just want to let you know that i have had 2 false alarms in the past week. Got really excited and then they stopped. It is so frustrating. I never had this with my 1st as i went straight into full labour with no false alarms and no messing around. Looks like i am not going to be so lucky this time.

Full moon tomorrow?? :happydance: tomorrow is my actual due date based on my cycles but 14th november was given to me at dating scan. Hopefully he will come with the full moon. Well i am having back ache and some tummy cramps like af is on her way and i am booked for a stretch and sweep tomorrow so i will have to hope and pray that i have my baby by monday. I hope we all do as i feel for any lady thats waiting like i am.

xx

my hospital will let me go to 41w2 before they will do anything, that takes me to the 1st of decemeber so no sweep or anything like that booked, really don't think I can last that long but do hope he comes on his own as had an induction with my first as my waters broke and it wasn't that great!

I'm going to google the effects of a full moon on childbirth, see if I can give us some hope!

I have a sweep on Thursday.

Yes let us no what google says :)

apparently not much scientific evidence to support it but midwives and those who work in the profession do believe in the effects. Also states can be more effective for 2nd pregnancies and more thatn 1st timers. It states that as we are made up of 80% water why wouldn't it have an effect. Also ready that it is more significant if near your due date as thats all you might need to "push" into labour - getting excited now! Another fzctor xould be the weather, changing from cold to warm fronts or reverse - also looking hopeful for me, our weather is due to change tomorrow night, much colder and snow forecast.

Humor me girls, I know I'm clutching at straws here, was put on rest from 30 weeks and now feel like I've been expecting him to arrive at any point for the past 10 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

found this:

The theory is that the moon’s gravitational pull effects the amniotic fluid in much the same way as it effects the water in the sea, rivers and even the water that’s otherwise found in our bodies.

As a woman’s body prepares for natural childbirth, the amniotic sac becomes distended so the point where it will easily burst if put under pressure. Under normal circumstances, the pressure of labor contractions bursts the sac. During a full moon, the pressure caused by the moon’s effect on the water inside the sac can cause the same things to happen, but without the accompanying contractions.

here's hoping it starts like that, at least we know if is not a false alarm!

oh how exciting. Yes we are all clutching at straws, but what else do we have :haha:

I've been having false labour for 2/3 weeks now, its such a pain in the bum, just when the contractions get unbearable or really quite regular and I'm about to ring labour ward they lessen in pain or frequency then subside, its so annoying especially cos it feels to me each time as if its the real thing but then I keep having people say 'you'll know when its real' and I've been wrong 6 times already. I hope your LO doesn't keep you waiting too long hun :hugs:

I'm gonna clutch at the full moon straw to now! Haha

PLus im off for a walk into town and a bimble around the shops! Walk walk walk...

Hi ladies

Just keeping you updated, my cramps/pains have come back a nd they are timing every 5-7 mins lasting 35 seconds. The pains feel like bad period pain. ( you know the ones that feel like your uterus is in a vice). Does this sound promising? Xx

lets hope its not another false alarm for you. Keep moving and staying upright. :) good luck

good luck sweetthang, are they getting more painful?
this morning I was really quite shocked at how painful my contractions were, found myself panting to get through them!
I have a lot of cramping and feeling uncomfortable, some sharp pains but nothing regular. Felt really sick whilst eating my tea but now nothing apart from a really hard bump.
fingers crossed it is the start for you!
