Have many of you been experiencing false labour in 2nd pregnancies?
MW told me that since my 1st labour progressed really quickly (once it eventually started) that 2nd time round things could go even faster so to get in asap as soon as I am in "established labour" due to group b strep.

Anyway, I have been having a build up of cramping, very mild irregular contractions and a slightly bloody show this morning which hasn't progressed to anything.... so far!!!

Just wondering how common false starts are in your 2nd pregnancy.

Thanks :)

PS I have also asked this in the labour thread since I am not sure where I should be asking this one

You know what i was going to start a thread about this too.

With my son my waters broke at 41 weeks, immediately followed by regular contractions so i knew i was definatley in labour. I didn't have any other signs, like cramps, nesting, BH's, or anything else.

This time round i've been getting on and off period type cramps since 37 wks and some of them have been pretty intense and painful. I've been nesting like crazy, regular BH's, tightenings, loose bowels, and last night i kept getting pains right up my backside

It would be interesting to hear other ladies views on this, and who had these symptoms before and how long did it take for them to go into real labour.

Been getting similar pains yet with my daughter I had c section and labour kicke into secondstage and now I have been told have to go right in when I start and im wondering how the fudge will I know what is real or false as its painful now

I know.... I can't believe I don't know if this is things starting. I just really need to know this time round because we have to get someone over to look after our 3 year old and since it's a Friday night everyone's likely to be out.... 1st time round wasn't an issue since it was just getting me to the hospital... More complicated this time.

Also last time I was 6 days overdue, had a sweep and labour started next morning really intense, lots of blood and was so fast in getting to the "yup-this is def the real thing"

Hope we get more advice. Am still get really painful but irregular cramping.... On the gym ball as I type.

This is my second and I've had 2 false starts thus far.... it has to be third time lucky, surely!? I'm the same as you; 10 hours last time, and GBS this time... xxx

Just a quick update on this one...
It wasn't a false start - it was the real thing!!!!
My little boy was born at 10:30pm that night... It became incredibly painful really fast, contractions were regular and lasting 40 seconds within no time and when I got to the pregnancy assessment unit I was ready to go... Unfortunately I was too late for antibiotics but the baby got them straight after birth so he was fine after a couple of days on the drip!

I am still in shock!
