She's only 19 and she hasn't had her baby yet, so Christmas for her isn't about children?

I think that is really cheeky, i'd never want anyone to spend that much on me other than maybe my OH if he chose to do that. The saying it's the thought that counts comes to mind... she needs to think about that not about how much it costs

very cheeky! stick to your limit toria! they should be happy you've chosen a gift for them, regardless of budget!!

OMG!!!!

I can't believe how much you all spend on family members

For starters I don't buy for Aunts, Uncles or cousins ... I don't buy for my brother and elder sister either and we all only buy for those nieces/nephews who are under 21.

My Dad I spend about £30 on, those nieces and nephews still eligible get around £10 (less if I can get away with it via the sales ;) ) and those few friends/family members who are left get about £7 worth (if I can't get away with making homemade presents look expensive .... this year they have Debenhams look alike sweeties in posh jars which are costing me under £2 each but look like they cost upwards of £10)

It's not that I'm tight as such .... just that I don't particularly like my extended family so I really prefer to spend the money on my own children, DH and now Kaylum  ....and they get really spoiled :happydance:

ditto ^^ i don't buy for anyone outside of sisters and mum and dad and my OH and LO everyone else can get tae fook :) xmas is just an excuse to waste money on people you don't even like that much.. i find if u have to buy them something crappy and cheap cos u don't wanna get them anything then don't ... like selection boxes you know when you get one of these (unless its just a skint family member meaning well) that ure not liked very much! aha i use them as a last resort for nephews and stuff :/ oh dear im a cow lol x

LOL Rhi_Rhi .... you sound just like me - that's exactly why I stopped buying for members of my extended family - I didn't spend enough time with them to have any idea what they might like and I didn't like them enough to want to spend time with them, so I just stopped buying for them at all

Is Rhi_Rhi short for your real name? Only oddly enough my Dad and sibling call me Rhi too

We've only got 16 people to buy for with both our familys together, but we only buy for our parents and siblings and OH's baby nephew this year, we limited £10 per person this year as we've still baby things to get and proberly do the same next year as we'll have to buy our own daughter stuff, but people shouldn't expect a certain gift and moan at what your spending on them, really it's the thought that counts. :)

I agree, good for you only getting your sister what you can afford, at the end of the day Christmas should be a happy time and not doom and gloom as people didn't get what they wanted, they should be grateful for whatever we get.

We tend to stick to £15 ish per adult, a bit more for my mum as she helps us out during the year. Luckily everyone agrees with OH and I that Christmas is now about the kids, not us :)

Exactly!! Me and oh have never bought each other stuff for xmas, apart from the first year we were together. I just dont understand why an adult would so much money spent on them?!

I agree.

I only buy for sisters kids xx

Stick to your limit otherwise it just gets silly :nope: we made an agreement with SIL that we would only buy for the kids & she agreed, we only spend £15 each on MIL & FIL and £30 on my mam & £15 on my little cousin and £15 on nephew &15 on my neice thats it think god

Ahhh ... Mine's Marie - the shortened version came about when my younger sister was learning to talk.

I LOVE Xmas - I just prefer to limit my present buying to my nearest and dearest :haha:
