Has anyone had this? i think i do but not sure.
My milk comes out really fast and we get in a mess when feeding, the right one is worse.
I can hear it coming out in his mouth, he has brought a few feeds up straight after when i burp him.
To me the milk comes out fast and there is lots of it.
It drips out at random times not just when he cries.
If i express i can fill a pot in a few minutes which a hand pump, its no effort at all.
Does this sound like the reason he could be getting sick and lots of hiccups and gas?

wilson was quite a gassy baby in the beginning, i had a hard let down.
would literally cover his face like a hose if he latched off.
it does settle down but one thing you can do is when they first latch on, take the nipple out their mouth after a couple of sucks and catch the initial let down in a tissue

Me too on right breast. Yhey eventually get used to it but atissue or muslin to hand in first few weeks helps. I also had oversupply with g as and green poo, so block feeding helped. A few feds on one side befote switching etc

I have this. All I can do it pull her off and wait until it slows down, but she still struggles to keep up and gulps and gasps for air. She always swallows a ton of air so she is very gassy after nursing and spits up quite a bit. Also had this with my last DD and it took a good 3 months for her to keep up with the flow. Mr right is worse , I make more on my right side. Can't wait until she is older and able to keep up. I hate that she gulps so much air and its also a bit messy with leaking/spraying and her spitting up

Try making sure he is upright too. If he is laying on his back he cant control how fast it is going down his throat. If you can keep him more upright, or even nurse with the "down under" position, pretty much you on your back with him facing down tummy to tummy. I dont like that one because I have to hold his head/nose up. But I might be doing something wrong! Either way try some positions where he can control the flow or atleast how fast he swallows. It seems to work well for me in the morning when letdown is faster, I always felt bad wasting the milk into a burp rag!

Thanks, i have tried this today and he hasnt been sick or spluttered.
i am also expressing just a littke off the right one (the fast one) before feeding.
I also find that this new position means you have to hold the head to keep the nose free.
I waste so much milk!! i hate tipping it diwn the sink after expressing it.
Shame it onlky keeps 24 hours in fridge

i have this and i did block feeding which really helps but i also try and feed laid down when my boobs are rather full. im almost 9 weeks in ow and my milk really settled down around 6 weeks.

You know you can freeze breastmilk? Then when you decide to stop feeding you'll have a stash to feed by cup!

I also have an over-fast letdown. I hate hearing LO choke and splutter, it makes me feel guilty. I do lay back for the first bit of a feed, he doesn't need my help holding his head up but then he has good neck control for his age. It seems to help.

Breastmilk keeps for five days to a week in the fridge; but the temperature must be consistently 4 degrees c or less, this according to the lastest guidelines. I also have an overactive let down, usually it will settle down after a few weeks but for us it hasn't, the only time that he cannot handle it now is if he is feeding half asleep and he cannot swallow as fast as the milk is shooting into his mouth; he then comes off disgruntled coughing and spluttering. Although it isn't recommended for any baby younger than quite a few months old; a couple of months ago I started doing all feeds starting on the right side which is the less active side, it has evened things out considerably though the left side is still quite overactive even now xx

I still have a fast let down.
In the beginning she used to fuss a lot on the boob and latch off.
Around 3.5 months she got used to it and now she'll just eat fine without latching off!
